Payot BB Cream and CicaExpert

Dear Readers

Payot is a brand that I knew when I was a child. However, I have never tried any of their products before due to its limited exposure i.e. only available in salon.

Payot has recently launched the Hydrating Antioxidant BB Cream and Cicaexpert. I was invited to the launch through the Lilac Blogger.

Many people may ask why only now that Payot is introducing the BB cream. Many brands have moved to CC cream. The representative from Payot explained that Payot did an extensive research before coming up with the BB cream. So far, I have only tried BB Cream from Korea and Japan. So, I am quite excited to try BB Cream from France. I am glad to say that it did not dissapoint me at all.

My thoughts about Payot BB Cream
I have tried the BB cream and I really loved it because:

  1. The texture is smooth and applied effortlessly
  2. It is non-oily and the oil control property is superb. It is suitable for my oily skin.
  3. The colour suits my skin tone (I am using 01- light) (my MAC foundation color is NC 30)
  4. It provides light to medium coverage
  5. It provides hydration to my skin with its hydro-dermo regulating complex
Payot BB Cream retails at RM148 for 50ml.

Product Review: Oslee Rosehip BB Cream, C-Shape Eye Mask etc

Dear Readers

I am sure you are familiar with Oslee. No? It is available at Guardian pharmacy in case you're not aware.

A few weeks ago, I was sent some samples of Oslee products to try. I will be reviewing those that I like best.

The first one is the Rosehip BB Cream

What I like about the BB cream?
The texture is non-oily and it applies effortlessly. It provides very sheer coverage but good enough for me as I don't like a heavy coverage. It controls oil quite well and my skin stays semi-matte until lunch time. It is easy to blend and has SPF 26 PA++. I rate it 4/5.

Price: 50ml for RM79.88

The second product is the C-Shape eye mask.

This mask is very unique because of the shape. It can cover the eye and part of the cheek area. After using it, the skin is hydrated and soft. I rate it 3.5/5.

Price 5pcs for RM68.90

Finally, the Oslee Hydra Medi serum and Young Medi (moituriser)

The serum has a super light transparent texture, almost like water. It absorbs fast into the skin. In terms of hydration, I think it is suitable for day use. I give it a 3.5/5

The Young Medi moisturiser however has a creamy but non-oily texture. It is suitable for night use. My skin loves it. I give it a 4/5.

Product Review: Hada Labo Air BB Cream

Dear Beauty Buddies,

Today, I will be sharing with you another beauty product that has made it to my "worthy" list. It is none other than the Hada Labo Air BB Cream which was launched during the 4th quarter of last year. I attended the launch event and learnt many tips. If you want to read about the tips, you can read it here.

I have put the product into test for several occasions and it passed the test with flying colours. I have received compliments from friends when using the BB cream. I usually apply a very small amount using the patting motion followed by sweeping motion. It is really easy to apply and the best part is my face that is very oily in nature did not turned super oily even after 3-4 hours after I went out under the sun. I just need to blot my face once or twice a day and it can last me throughout the whole day.

Product rating: 4.5/5
Product texture: 4.5/5
Colour: excellent , no greyish effect
Price: RM55.90 for 40g

So, I will show you some pictures.

So, if you have oily face like me and you love to use BB cream but fear of the oily after effect, fret not, Hada Labo Air BB cream is the answer for you.

Give it a try and let me know the result.

Hada Labo Air BB Cream - Launch

Dear Friends

Would like to update you on the latest BB Cream by Hada Labo. It is called Air BB Cream. Sounds like Nike Air. Gives me the impression that it is light. Have you tried it yet?

Personally, I am not a fan of BB Cream. My daily makeup routine is just loose powder. I don't like coverage even though I don't have perfect skin. I have tried some BB Creams but so far I only found one that I like. Maybe Hada Labo Air BB Cream can make it to my list. Honestly, I have not tried it yet but from the product texture I can tell that it is light and not oily. So, there is hope that it will make it to my favourite list.

I shall update you after I try it. (here is my review link, do read!)

Back to the product launch. It was held at Acme Bar, Jalan Binjai (The Troika). I took a train to Ampang Park. The location is very near so I had no problem finding the place.

Elaine Choo (Senior Product Manager) expaining to us the benefits of Hada Labo Air BB Cream.
Although Hada Labo Air BB Cream contains several types of silicon but according to Elaine Choo, the molecule of the silicon is bigger than our pores. Therefore, it will not enter the pores, it will only stay on the skin surface. Thus, no worry about clogged pores.

Image
Monica Lee (professioanl makeup artist) demonstrating the correct techniques to apply Hada labo Air BB cream.
The Application Technique (by Monica Lee)
1. Dabbing method - to achieve the concentration of the pigment at areas that require more coverage such as acne spots, freckles etc.
2. Rubbing method (like applying moisturiser) - This method will spread the pigment evenly on your face but may not give enough covergae fir spots/freckles.

So, Monica recommends to combine both methods to achieve near flawless skin. This Hada Labo Air BB Cream allows layering. The key is to apply very little product on each layer to achieve an almost flawless. It is recommended to apply with foundation brush for more even application.

Image
The colours are not like the typical BB Cream that may have a greyish tint. The colours are very wearable. Suitable for Asian skin tone.

Product Review: Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream & Stage Lip Gloss

Dear Friends

I have done this look quite some time ago but today is the opportune time to show you. This post is actually a review of 2 products that I like:
1. Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream SPF 30 PA ++ (Sheer Silky Skin)
2. STAGE lip gloss (in No. 16 Persephone).

Finally, I can say that I have found my Holy Grail (HG) BB Cream for my oily skin! The color of the BB Cream is just perfect for my skin tone (MAC NC 30). I applied Skin Food Buckwheat loose powder in No. 21 on top of the BB Cream. This loose powder has superb oil control properties. It is my HG loose powder. I bought this loose powder again and again because it is good for my oily skin.

Can you see the heathy glow? I hope so.

Other products used.

Using Elizabeth Arden Eye Shadow in Indigo and Revlon matte, Urban Decay Sky Scraper Mascara

Image
STAGE lip gloss has a very good brush applicator

Image
STAGE lipgloss in No. 16 Persephone - See the sparkle?

Image
See the color, it brightens my pout!

My Review on STAGE Lip Gloss:

Like
1. The applicator is very good
2. The color is very pigmented and suits my cool skin tone
3. The lip gloss texture is not super sticky and there is no wierd taste
4. It moisturise the lips well (I wore it on its own all the time)

Dislike
1. I think it is quite expensive about RM50 plus (but I bought it during sales, only RM18)
2. Not very long lasting

Image
Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream, Sheer Silky Skin - A winner for me
Why I like Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream?
1. Does not oil up my skin but gives a healthy glow (lasts up to 4 hrs before the blotting paper is needed)
2. Does not clog my pores
3. Nice smell
4. Easy to apply evenly on the skin, blends easily & not cakey (How I apply : spread the BB cream on my palm and use 2 fingers to pat on your skin, then apply evenly)
5. has a pump dispenser
6. Color suits my skin tone (MAC NC 30)
7. has SPF 30 PA ++
8. Medium coverage but gives a sheer look (true to the label - sheer silky skin)
9. Can cover my undereye dark circle
10. Does not oxidize on my skin like other typical BB cream

Price : RM70+ (Dec 2011) but I got this at RM40 plus from Korea

Image

Image
This BB Cream suits my skin color (MAC NC 30)
The oil test - I put the BB Cream on a piece of oil blotter and left it for 14 hrs

Image
After 14 hrs, you can see the small oil stain. Therefore, I think Etude House BB Cream is less oily than normal BB Cream

Have you tried the Products before? How do you like it?

Have a lovely weekend!

Product Review: Heme Genius BB Cream SPF28 PA ++

Dear Friends

I got this Heme Genius BB Cream (15ml) as a free gift from a magazine many months ago. I have tried this product and would like to share my thoughts with you.

Product description
Instantly improve and cover skin's imperfection, delivering a flawless and radiant look. Keep your skin with a water-oil balance. also provide everyday UVA/UVB protection.
Suitable for normal and combination skin.

Oil Test
Firstly, I did an oil test using my simple method - put a small dollop of product on a piece of blotting paper and left it for 7.5 hours. The result is shown below. You can see the oil shadow.

Image

The swatch below shows the color. It actually matched my skin tone after proper blending.

Image

The coverage is medium and gives a matte look.

Image

I quite like the texture and coverage of this BB cream. It is not super oil like other BB cream that I tried. Comparatively, Genius BB cream is less oily than Missha BB Cream that I reviewed here. However, I still need to blot after 3-4 hours (as I have oily skin). The color and coverage is enough for me. I am sure it will suit normal and combination skin people.

Rating
Coverage: 4/5 (medium coverage)
Oil Control: 2/5 (rating from oily skin perspective)
Price: unavailable

Hope my review is helpful for those who are considering a new BB cream.

Happy holiday!

Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream and Lilan Vital Magical Makeover BB Cream

Dear Readers,

I hope eveyone enjoyed your weekend.

Today, I am going to talk about BB Cream which stands for blemish balm cream. I am very new to this. I only tried it last year when I attended the Tsuya-tsuya workshop in 2009. Most BB creams that I came across are produced in Korea.

Recently, my Korean friend gave me a brand new Missha M Perfect Cover BB cream. She is such a sweet girl. At the same time, my mom also bought the Lilan Vital Magical Makeover BB Cream from Cosway. Both are SPF 42. I got color no 21 for Missha BB cream.

I have conducted a mini experiment. I put the creams on blotting paper and check them after several hours and on the next day. The result is shown below.

Image

Missha BB Cream Ingredients:
 Image

Lilan Vital BB Cream Ingredients:
 Image

At 11.35am, (just after 5 mins of application) , you can see that the oil stains start showing
 Image

At 6.45pm, the oil stains spread further
 Image

On the next day, the oil stains spread even further.
 Image

Conclusion of my mini experiment:
Both Missha and Lilan Vital BB Cream are equally as oily as shown in the experiment above.

What is the outcome when I apply on my oily face?
As some of you may know, I have very oily skin. I have applied both BB cream on my face on different occasions and regret to inform you that my face turned super oily after 2 hours even after I set it with loose powder. (I think you can fry eggs on my face....that oily, I am serious)

Therefore, for those with oily skin, you may want to try Revlon Liquid foundation instead. Click here to see my review.

I have searched the net and read about Lioele Triple Solution BB Cream with SPF 30 (USD 28). According to the reviewer, it is very suitable for oily and acne prone skin. She claimed that her skin conditioned improved a lot after using this product. Has anyone with oily skin tried this? Pls share.

After conducting this mini experiment and testing both BB creams on my face, I really do not feel like trying on BB cream anymore. If you have oily skin and know of any BB creams  that will not make oily skin more oily, please share with me and other readers too.

Thanks everyone!
