notice how people give each other mooncakes

every year?

round oval baked snow skin

the list goes on

this year we didn't get as many

maybe only six (6) boxes 

enough to turn me 

fat like like like ok a pregnant woman

if i ate them all lah

and every year 

carpenter street will be closed 

so that those obsessed with mooncake festival

can go walk walk and buy more

mooncakes

i, am one of them

nolah i'm not an aunty

i just wanted to check what the hoohaa was about

and my efforts were not gone to waste

besides mooncakes

there were alot of other stalls selling food

some balloons, lighters, toothbrush

you name it they have it

oklah, maybe not

see see alot of people right?

see that my friends? that, is called Diabetes...

ok what do we have here

we have cotton candy, lion dance, mooncakes

and no lanterns or tea

when you talk about mooncakes

what immediately comes to mind

is definitely of course mooncakes, those old school ones

kids carrying lanterns 

old folks drinking tea while savoring mooncakes

and the lady on the moon

i didn't see any of those at the festival

not a hint of the traditional culture however hard they tried

i have two words for it

when was the last time you went for a concert?

Jolin's concert a few years back

was my last and

it was held in Genting

and when was the last time any international rock star

came to Kuching?

seriously, i can't recall

hence you all can't blame me for

being this excited

that Beyond is coming to town

and that THEY are the ones flying here

and not me flying to KL

or making my way up to the highlands

so much like most of their fans

i made my way to Spring last Saturday

for the 'meet the fans' session

although the group now consists of only two

**the band was disbanded in 2005

Ah Paul and Wong Ka Keung

are still my favorites

Although i am not a Beyond die-hard fan

who could forget singing to their sensational hits ??

songs like 海闊天空 (Boundless Oceans Vast Skies) 

& 光輝歲月 (Glorious Years)

the only saddening thing

is that the concert has been postponed

to January 15th, a 3-month wait

from the concert's actual date, October 3rd

anyhow i am still glad that they are coming

even though it may be a money-making scheme

it is still all good for me

i hope Kuching will play its part as a good host and crowd!!

Beyond is coming to town!!

YES!! for the first time in many years

Hong Kong's Canto-rock boy band is coming to perform

in this sleepy town of mine

Beyond used to be so popular during its heydays in the early 90's

but that began to wane with 

the death of its lead singer Wong Ka Kui

who fell off the stage during a performance in Tokyo

Since then his younger brother has taken over 

as the lead vocalist

he may not be as good as his brother was

but it's still good

I am thinking their concert would be filled with many classics 

ones that propelled them to superstardom

songs like 海闊天空 (Boundless Oceans Vast Skies) & 光輝歲月 (Glorious Years)

and many many more

*my personal favorite is 情人

reading, sleeping, contemplating and procrastinating

all of which, but one, is not good for me

the day started the same way as any other day

for his live performance at the Arena of Stars in Genting

and i have booked tickets for a week earlier

damn damn dang!

WHY

i so wanna curl up in my bed and sleep forever

there is no way i can change the dates

especially when traveling on promotional fares

or can I?

that time of

the year is here again
beautiful lit-up trees and christmas jingles
everywhere you go
tis the season to be jolly
give and exchange of presents
it is just wonderful
Pavilion's decoration was almost the same as last year's
this year they added a few more trees
last year it was just one massive tree





slap me
i don't believe it
one year has slipped by so fast
i can't admit i'm not ageing
wonder if i'll see the same deco next year
i think best deco for shopping mall went to Mid-valley last year
KLCC had a massive tree in the middle of the courtyard
as did Pavilion at the front door
i'm sure they can't rival that of Singapore's Orchard Road
or Nathan Road in Hong Kong


which reminded me
there wasn't a christmas tree in my hotel lobby
i remember last year there was a very nice one in Concorde hotel
one massive one in the lobby
and two small ones in front of the main door
hmmph Piccolo sucks
no Christmas tree
wahahhah

unfortunately i didn't have time to visit other shopping malls in KL
it was just KLCC the afternoon i arrived
followed by Sungei Wang and Pavilion
for the next few days

futile efforts

to make my mum proud today

she personally called to remind me yesterday
to represent her at a millionaire investment talk dinner
now just so you know my mum is one who'd never ask for favors
not one to let her down
i went to great lengths to make sure my nails looked good
including my toe nails
i sat for 3 friggen hours
not knowing it would take that long
as this was my first time i put on acrylic nails


i had wanted to curl my hair first
but because everyone was busy and no one was available
i decided to paint my nails first
i had to wait for fiona to rush from town to bdc
before she began the nerve-wrecking job
i think her eyes were sore from all the filing and painting
luckily gina was there and there was someone to talk to
being as restless as i am
i normally can't sit for more than an hour



but i sat through the whole ordeal only because
fiona was doing her best
and it was my first *virgin* try at acrylic nails
when my nails were done i rushed over to yuki
to have my hair curled, rinsed and curled
i told her to do a rush rush job because
i didn't want to be late
as it was already nearly 6.15pm
not long later, my hair was curled the way i liked it,
big big curls made me happy

but my ego was somewhat bruised
when my date told me my nails looked funny
and that my hair was not that pretty
too curly was his opinion
all i had done i felt went down the gutter on just two comments
i had to sit through a lecture
listen to him lament on things that he wasn't even unsure of
but i think i'm seriously tired of this suspicion
and the paranoia
I AM A FUCKING PATIENT
who takes medication daily

well
having heard all those unnecessary banter
i decided not to go
but fiona said to me that i should make my mum proud
and i should still go even though i was late
better late than never right?
she had a point
i already made the effort to do my nails and hair
why not go? even if i had to go alone
and i chose to go despite the fact that i rang my mum
to tell her that i was feeling ill

there was a tad of disappointment in her tone
i could sense it, of course, being her daughter
my dad said to stay home if i was feeling sick
and i questioned myself
conscience got the better of me and i told myself
i had to attend this dinner
because my mum rang me to inform me
reminded me this morning
dad smsed me twice
and she smsed me at 7pm

i had to go
and i went
fashionably late you could say
the event which began on time at 6.30pm
ended sharply at 8.30pm
i was searching for the venue like a chicken without a head
and i still couldn't find the hall that it was held in
i had the concierge radio the people above
only to confirm with me that
everyone had left and the event was officially over
i was gobsmacked

then an sms arrived
dad
"mum is proud that you went even though you were late"
she knows you made an effort
i did i really did
i hope deep inside her heart
she doesn't think that i didn't think much of the event
i have my nails and hair to prove
i wanted to make you proud mum i did
if only i arrived an hour earlier


tomorrow is another dispiriting day for me
as i face the challenge of dealing with someone who's
much more experienced than i am
who knows more than i do
and fingers crossed i get this right
i don't want any litigation linked to the matter
wish me luck guys
i've consulted a few friends
and have come to a final decision
pray for me

i really need your support
my family is not around
i am most vulnerable when my family is not around
and it doesn't help when the closest person to you does not agree with you
i am alone again
just like before
i need strength i need support
morally and physically

equipments i mean
this is going to be huge
phenomenal
the numbers speak for themselves
111 people applied during the 3-day roadshow
and that number is growing

with equipments shipped all the way from the US

i myself tried out three different types of equipments
plus i did some extra crunches for that
flat stomach look
say bye bye to jelly belly
again i have to stress

highlight of my September KL trip

was meeting Jojo Struys in person
she's uber sweet,nice, and amazingly down to earth, trust me
gotta thank Kenny for inviting me to the filming/photoshoot
even had my makeup done by Jojo's personal stylist, Ling
honestly i had no idea that filming a 3 min interview would take a whole day
the filming was carried out in a rented villa in Sunway Lagoon Resort
that had a private pool and a patio
then Kenny had to walk with Jojo to Mandara Spa
where I was waiting for them to join me
for my cue to enter

discovered that filming is actually very fun but tiring
30 minutes on air could take two to three days of actual filming
walking and talking at the same time could result in
make up melting from bright lights
or under the sun
though gruesome it's worth all the while
