At the Lake

We went to the McGooden lake house this weekend for a little retreat. Only, it's not really a retreat when you bring your kids. Nate's mom got all the kids fishing poles so we braved the dock and went fishing. Adrienne and Chloe are girly girls so even though they liked the idea of fishing they would not touch a worm. Grant on the other hand carried a worm around with him the entire time and held it up to his lips as if he were going to put it in his mouth. (He never put it in his mouth, I think he just liked the feel of it on his lips!) This of course freaked out ALL of the girls which only made him want to do it more. He is only 18 months old but he knows when he's entertaining. Fortunately, almost everyone caught fish that wanted to so it was a successful, yet stressful event, given the kids: Max was scared of holding a fishing pole because he might catch a fish which for some reason he thinks can bite; Grant walked close to the edge of the dock with his worm and threw his fishing pole in the lake, Adrienne kept lifting her worm out of the water to see if there was a fish on it and Chloe was just a little grumpy. Who wants to go with us next time?

I'll go with you, except don't ask me to stick any worms on hooks.
Enjoy it now. In a few years they'll think it's really funny to attempt to push Mom in the lake, or they won't want you anywhere near them. Then you sit and worry that they aren't wearing life jackets, or will fall in the lake and hit there head or break their neck or...................
Hugs, Mom in CO.
