As I loved The Great Gatsby, I wanted to read another novel by F Scott Fitzgerald, Tender is the night. It seems this book is partly autobiographical. I haven't been disappointed by it. The 20's, love stories, secret, complicated relationships between people, travels are the themes of this story.
I must admit that I have chosen by chance the book by Jørn Riel. I was looking for a danish contemporary writer before leaving for Copenhagen.
It's a simple short story that begins in Iceland and continues in Greenland among the Inuit. Reading this book, we discover Inuit customs and some of their traditions.
I had a good time reading this little book. I think this story may interest to young readers too.
The last novel I just finished is the one of Riika Pulkkinen, a young finnish writer. Starting the book, I thought I couldn't continue to read it because I thought it was too sad. Difficult for me to summarize this story in English. Don't be scared if I tell you that the story begins with a grandmother who has cancer. Discovering an old dress in the wardrobe of her grandmother, the granddaughter will dive into the past of her family to discover some secrets and understanding family. This book brought me tears at the beginning and the end....!
Have a nice weekend!
