 I am glad I was in Venice several decades ago before all the current craziness.  Fighting through massive crowds of tourists and selfie sticks to see the beauty of this city does not feel like it would be enjoyable.  Plus, the charm of local culture is gone.

And, even without the current political climate, I have never wanted to go to Florida.  I even turned down an offer of free accommodation from some friends who had a condo they used during the winter.  I would rather have spent time exploring the states I'd have to drive through to get there than spend time in Daytona. 

 

 

 They do have a dizzying array of linen postcards, though.

 

 I could also include Disney World - or any of the Disney theme parks - in my list of places I'd not like to visit.

I'd rather visit a theme park that is unique to country you find it in.

When I think of oranges, I think of Florida and navel oranges.  If I had a postcard of the sweet, sweet oranges of Valencia I would be showing that.

I like cranberry sauce, but when I discovered lingonberry jam at IKEA, that became my favourite

although apples are available all year round, in fall we tend to get more and new varieties and I love trying them all out.  my new favourites are lobos and cosmic crisp and something called sweetango.

Florida's Sunshine Skyway

Longest continuous structure over water in the world. The bridge is an important link to the Gulf Coast Scenic Highway between Pinellas, Manatee, and Sarasota counties across lower Tampa Bay.

Here is the original two lane bridge opened in 1954. A second parallel span was built in the late 60s and used for southbound traffic while this span became two lanes for northbound traffic. The new southbound span was destroyed in 1980 when a freighter collided with one of the piers. The whole thing was soon replaced by a new bridge.
