This is Ellie and Tripp's new hangout.
It's a little cabinet in the kitchen.
Pretty cool.
They're so sneaky.
And they think I can't see them.
Ellie runs in there and then yells,
"Mom, ask where I am!"
Great game, huh.

There's a picture of me when I'm little hiding in the pantry drinking a bottle that reminds me of Tripper peeking out.
Silly crazy kids.
If you can't find them when you come over someday, just look in the cabinet.

Oh, High School

Matt and I graduated from Berean in 2005.
We started dating our senior year.
I had a lot of growing up to do, and Matt patiently waited for me to figure most of it out before he started dating me.
He had told his mom that he was going to marry me someday...
That was while I was dating someone else...but he still knew.
And never gave up, he just waited.
I love that!

At Berean, we have two special banquets.
There's a really formal one,
And then there's Jr./Sr. banquet.
When we went there, they always came up with a theme, and then we dressed according to it.
Our Senior year was Tom Sawyer.

Now...
We're teachers.
That means...
We went back to Junior/Senior Banquet...
Teacher Style.
Awesome!

I have to admit, I think it was more fun as a student.
That awkward date time...
Hours getting ready.
Sitting by all your friends...
That wonderful romantic fairy tale-like amazingness that covers the entire evening.

Teacher style, not so much...
Drop kids off at parent's house...
run home from a wedding shower with 5 minutes to get ready...
Squeeze into a dress you were sure would fit,
Wear an amazing necklace that makes squeezing into the black "out-of-dress-code" dress totally worth it...
Go pick up hubby at parent's house where he's frantically ironing his clothes since your iron is broken...
Have your nice sis-in-law help zip up the rest of your totally worth it little black dress...
Drive fast all the way there...
Get nervous when you walk in, hoping you look like a teacher's wife, but not too old looking, and still somewhat awesomely fashionable.
Then sit and watch all the little people eat, sit by their dates, look at the decorations...
And reminisce about when you were 17 and sat in those same chairs holding hands under the table and giggling with your friends.

Image
5 years later, it's still pretty fun!

Image
And...we got to spy on our brothers!
How awesome it that!
They are both seniors.
And were absolutely thrilled that we were there...
Really, they were.
I think.
Image
Jake went with Kristen, a good friend.
She was Miss Berean.
Every time we go by Kristen's house in Elbing, Ellie informs me that's where the queen lives.

Image
She's pretty funny!
Image
No, that's not Matt's date.
That's Jason, the Bible teacher.
He didn't want me to put this on my blog, so I did.
They're weird together.
I don't get it.
Image
Me and Mo!
She looked beautiful!

Image
Matt and O.
They're weird together too.

After banquet, we went back to get the kids.
Ellie was ecstatic about all the seniors coming in with their princess dresses on.
She went crazy...have I mentioned before that she likes people?
She was in heaven and greeted everyone at the door by name and then promptly went in with the girls to change, and somehow got them to give her gum, and take her potty.

After she said goodbye to each person, we went home.
What fun, old married couple memories!

Dirt is yummy

This is what my kiddos have been up to lately...

Tripper is growing fast and learning a lot of new things.
He went from saying "mom" to saying "ah-oh," "Hi," "Bye," and "thank you."
It's so sweet! Some of them...like "thank you," only a mom knows. It's just a little grunt of the syllables, followed by a smile. Those are the cutest words!
Image
He is VERY adventurous.
ALL boy.
He's in a climbing stage.
I was not aware this was a stage, but apparently, he's in it.
Anything that's elevated, he deems worthy to conquer.
Boxes, tables, trash cans, dishwashers, washing machines, stairs, cars...ANYTHING!

Image

He's also into eating things.
Things that aren't food.
Things like play-doh, paper, markers...
Today he was in to bark and dirt.
Awesome.

Ellie is 3 and a half!
The grow up so quickly.

Image

Image

Her favorite word is "Princess"
Her favorite color is Purple.
She's into crafts.
She knows NO strangers, only potential friends.
And she prefers her life to go in warp speed.

I'm frazzled.
And tired.
I only have 2 kids, but sometimes, I think there might be more...
How can 2 little munchkins make such big messes?
Can one child honestly inhale a whole can of play-doh before I turn around?
I would like a nap.
A long nap.
When I was little, I never understood why my parents wanted to take naps on Sundays.
How boring.
Now I get it.
I would like to be boring and take a nap too.
Or maybe just be able to take a shower without finding my one year old on top of the washing machine eating soap when I get out.

But then I look at all the pictures of our frazzled day.
And see all the messes that I just got done cleaning up for the five hundredth time that somehow magically appeared again.
And I realize I really wouldn't want it any other way.
I love them both.
And they are perfectly perfect for me.
And they are teaching me a lot.
And that's how it's supposed to be.
Even if I get frazzled in the process.

Family Fun on Easter Day!

We had a wonderful, relaxing Easter.
Full of yummy food, wonderful family, an egg hunt, a walk, and games.
So...here's some of our day!

Ellie got a beautiful Cora dress from Grammy to wear for Easter.

Image

Thank you Grammy!
We love it!
Image

Church was very crowded, and very good.
I love our church!

After that, we went to my parent's house.
First things first...
Feed the human garbage disposal...

Image

He could possibly eat us out of house and home.

Second, have a very fun easter egg hunt/photo extravaganza...who doesn't like that?!

ImageImageImage
She was very bewildered.
Someone...Jacob...was sneaking around eating all her candy out of the eggs before she found it!
What a naughty Uncle Jakey!

Such fun family memories!
