Joanne's Book Signing

Last Sunday, Joanne Fink hosted a book signing event with her family and friends.

Joanne advertised the afternoon as a time to "Color, Create, Shop, and Celebrate."

While that was an accurate description, it did not begin to capture the love and community reflected by the people who came to support her.

She wrote a piece about it on her blog this week - click here to check it out.  In it, she details the happy events of the day.

Joanne also invited me to display my frames there and I happily obliged ~

On her blog post, there is a photograph of five of the six CZTs in attendance - Jo-Ellen Matthews, Sindy P, Dorian Eng, Tracey Lyons, and myself.  (Barb Gill was not present when the photograph was taken.)  We had a wonderful reunion.

There were  three new books that Joanne was celebrating.  The first was the long awaited Kickstarter project, When You Lose Someone You Love - a true labor of love.  It is a compilation of inspiring thoughts and drawings about grief that Joanne wrote after the sudden loss of her husband, Andy.
It is now available for purchase on her website:  zenspirations.com.

The other two are the newest additions to her line of Zenspirations® Create, Color, Pattern, Play books:
Expressions of Faith and Birds and Butterflies.

A few months ago, Joanne asked me to contribute to them.  It was a tremendous honor.

Here is one of the two pages I completed for her Birds and Butterflies book ~

Her illustrations are beautiful, and the work of fellow contributors is inspiring.

The books will be available in Michael's Stores on October 3 and are currently available from Amazon - along with many other titles by Joanne.

I am especially grateful to Joanne for the opportunity to participate in her latest projects, and to be welcomed in to the many creative communities she has lovingly nurtured.

Take some time to visit her website - Zenpirations - you will feel welcomed, too!

A Wonderful Wednesday

There is much to celebrate and be grateful for everyday and today is no exception.

Congratulations are in order for the graduating CZT XVI Class! They are finishing up their seminar in Providence, Rhode Island, today - Woohoo!  Special shout out to Judy, Shea, and Lucy and all the newly minted CZTs.   Imagine the influence they will have on the world as they return home and spread the love for all things Zentangle®.

Congratulations to Joanne Fink who's Kickstarter has been a great success.  (Click here to read about it.)  With just a few days left there is more good news - It is not too late to jump on board and pledge your support.  It is also a wonderful way to reserve your copy of her new book
When You Loose Someone You Love.
A special thank you to all my readers who have supported her campaign.

And now for our Wednesday inspiration ~

Tangled Leaves by Adele Bruno, CZT

Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;
Lengthen night and shorten day!
Every leaf speaks bliss to me,
Fluttering from the autumn tree...

Happy "Zenth" Anniversary to Rick and Maria

Today marks the tenth - "Zenth" - anniversary of the first public Zentangle ® class that co-founders Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas taught in Providence, Rhode Island.

Think of the lives they, and the art form, have touched in just ten short years.

One way Rick and Maria spread the joy of tangling around the world is to train others to teach it - CZTs - Certified Zentangle Teachers.

A group of us decided to celebrate the anniversary with what we dubbed a CZTea.

Today, twenty five CZTs from all over the state of Florida came to the luncheon that Sindy P and I organized.

So many creative minds in one place made for a lively, lovely time.

Here is a picture of most of us ~

Feeling Official

This morning, thanks to Sandy Bartholomew, I ordered some CZT trading cards.
(Click here to see her post about them.)

Sandy came up with the "Great Idea", provided the art work for fellow CZTs to use (the template), and the information on where and how to order them.  Yes, all from her generous tangled heart!

I finally ordered them this morning and I must say that I am feeling quite official ~

Thank you, Sandy for sharing the love!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Anniversary CZT X

Congratulations to the Certified Zentangle Teachers from Seminar X!  Last week marked one year (can you believe it?!) since we gathered in Providence, Rhode Island.

One year, and countless happy adventures later, I still get a warm and rejuvenating feeling when I recall being there.  I am grateful to have met so many talented tanglers from all walks of life and from all over the world.

You can click here to view the Zentangle newsletter.  from last Fall.  In this edition, Rick and Maria posted photos of our class, our art work (you may recognize a lamp ;), and a very complimentary write up about the weekend.

While there, I purchased an apron and Maria graciously wrote my name on it - in her beautiful style.

In life, it's often the little things that are most meaningful.  This is proof positive.  I cherish this apron and I appreciate the thought, the care, the detail, that Rick and Maria invest in all things Zentangle.

Our class was full of extraordinary people.  Recently, I caught up with one such fabulous woman - Morag Smith.  Morag and I laughed together more than we spoke and believe me, that was an accomplishment!

I was curious to see what she's been doing since becoming a CZT and asked her permission to post her update along with our photo.  She said that I could write anything about her that I cared to defend later - even her emails make me laugh!

Image

As it turns out, she has been very busy keeping up with her husband's (Canada's comedian, author, and television personality, Red Green) schedule but still finds time to tangle a few times a week.  Morag has also found time to teach classes in Canada and Florida, her summer and winter homes.  She especially likes when people continue on after taking a class and return to show her their creations.

She enjoys drawing, then tangling pictures - baby names for  nurseries, initials for cards, and countless ZIA watercolor pieces.  Morag sells many of them at craft shows and through her husband Steve's website:  www.redgreen.com  Under the SHOP tab, find 'Bernice's Craft Corner'.  Here is the write up from that page:
Bernice (aka Morag Smith), having all the sensitivity and artistic ability so sadly lacking in Red, has started creating delicate works of art and has allowed us to improve our image by offering them here. Each drawing is a one of a kind signed original and comes with a matte suitable for framing. No shipping or handling charges. A great way to add some class to your home or ice fishing shack.
I love it!  You will have to visit the website to see her beautiful art work - it's sure to put a smile on your face.

Thank you, Morag, for the update.  I hope our paths cross again soon.

A special shout out to all of our CZT X classmates.  I hope you have had a fabulous, Zentangle filled year!
