We are making this post to bring your attention to several errors identified in the 2021 Ace Community Survey Summary Report. Below, you will find a list of the errors along with their corresponding corrections.
- P29, under the title of the bar chart, “Aces 2021” should read “Non-monogamous aces 2021”
- P32, second sentence of the second paragraph, “More than half of ace respondents never experienced sexual attraction (54.9%), and over 80% of this group experienced it rarely or not at all,” should read “When asked how often they experience sexual attraction/desire towards another person, more than of half of ace respondents selected ‘Never’ (54.9%), and about a third selected ‘Rarely’ (31.1%).”
- P35, fifth sentence of the third paragraph from the bottom, “A majority of respondents who were unsure if they were ace rated themselves between ‘nonexistent’ and ‘very strong,’ with one third of them rating themselves as a ‘2’ (33.6%),” should read “A majority of ace respondents who were unsure if they were ace chose 1 (32.3%), 2 (33.5%), or 3 (19.5%).”
- P36, fifth sentence of the second paragraph from the bottom starting with “For example,” should read as “For example, ‘sex-repulsed’ means that the individual dislikes or is repulsed by the idea of themselves engaging in sexual activity, and ‘sex-averse’ means that the individual strongly dislikes or is opposed to participating in sexual activity. However, ‘sex-repulsed’ and ‘sex-averse’ aces may or may not be bothered by the concept of sex in general. In other words, a person may have a sex positive attitude when it comes to other people having consensual sex, but may feel sex-repulsed or sex-averse when it comes to personal participation.”
- P39, last sentence of the third paragraph: “27.5” should read “27.5%”
- P40, the following is incorrect: “a smaller sample size of the older participants led to lower numbers on the right side of the chart.” Please disregard. It should now read, “Overall, the respondents of this survey skewed younger. The plot does not account for the younger participants who may have sex at a later age in the future.”
- P42, graph without the percentages and a subtitle added for clarity:
