10P EMOTIONAL LITERACY FOR ATHLETES

Most athletes are not the multimillionaire superstars we see on TV, yet they face many of the same pressures—performance demands, identity challenges, and mental strain. They deserve access to the same tools and support that help them succeed. Sponsoring 10P Emotional Literacy for Athletes allows us to support them on their journey while helping reduce disproportionately high rates of depression and suicide.

10P Emotional Literacy for Athletes is a game-changer for athletes, coaches, and those that support them —enhancing performance while supporting their mental and emotional well-being. It helps athletes stay focused under pressure, bounce back from setbacks, communicate effectively, and build stronger relationships with teammates and coaches. In a world where athletes are often expected to perform at all costs, emotional literacy brings balance—recognizing that behind every performance is a human being navigating real emotions.
Our Emotional Literacy for Athletes explores this human side, offering powerful tools not just for athletes, but for coaches, families, and supporters as well. By prioritizing emotional intelligence, we can help athletes thrive both in their sport and in life.

Juan Angulo lives in Los Angeles, California. He was injured in a motor vehicle accident when he was only 20 years old, resulting in a T7 complete spinal injury. During his inpatient rehabilitation he was introduced to wheelchair sports by Physical Therapist and Recreation Therapist. Both therapists saw his potential and believed wheelchair sports would help him adjust to his new life as a paraplegic. Juan always had natural athletic ability and wheelchair sports was the perfect way to help him do something that felt 'normal' after the accident.
Juan set his goal on the Paralympics and never looked back. He played on US National Championship wheelchair basketball teams in 2004 and 2024. He achieved his goal of competing in the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens.Followed by competing and coaching a professional wheelchair basketball team in Spain for five years and continuing to compete on US NWBA teams; with numerous nominations to all tournament teams at national and international tournaments. Juan also competes and has won national championships and all team awards in wheelchair football; including being the captain of the first NFL associated wheelchair football team, LA Rams.
Juan pays it forward by leading and or coaching wheelchair sports clinics and camps internationally. And routinely volunteers his time as a guest in Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy courses; to help them understand the journey of people with spinal injury and the positive role wheelchair sports can play in recovery.
