AME2 has got two follow-ups which can significantly improve training efficiency, performance, and generalization. I think the training cost can be reduced to (not by) 20% now. 1) active gaze arxiv.org/abs/2606.05880 2) sparsify attention arxiv.org/abs/2606.00637

releasing AME2: Agile and Generalized Legged Locomotion via Attention-Based Neural Map Encoding arxiv.org/abs/2601.08485 In this work, we discuss how to achieve a combination of generalization and agility in legged locomotion, and propose a general solution.

deepseek r1 paper is so easy to follow even for me as a "traditional" robotics guy. I can foresee how the general methodology might revolutionize applications, just like when deep learning changed every engineering topic.

I work in robotics. I find things uniquely stressful rn like never before. Everyday can be a "GPT moment in robotics", especially for AI related ones. I know colleagues have mental illnesses due to the stress in the robotics domain, despite good lab atmosphere and nice PI.

Do you work in AI? Do you find things uniquely stressful right now, like never before? Haver you ever suffered from a mental illness? Read my personal experience of those challenges here: docs.google.com/document/d/1aE…

A student just trained this within a day, no tedious tuning, no sim2real tricks, not even with sys-id. Worked in the first trial on the real robot. This explains the many recent impressive demos on G1 robot -- just the hardware. Still sim2real gaps on ankle and waist dofs tho.

Tencent Robotics released their wheeled-legged home service robot. 1. Looks friendly 2. Can traverse stairs 3. Can carry 50kg (demoed 65kg human) payload 4. Whole body force control, combination of linear and rotary actuators 5. Can fold itself 6. Collected lots of HRI data

I cannot reverse engineer this lol. If it's RL, I don't know how it sustains stable hand contact forces. If motors are strong enough, maybe adaptive controller. If it is model-based, since I don't think they hardcode object dynamics, the stability of loco-mani is also too good.
