Socrates: This body holding me reminds me of our own mortality. Embrace this moment. Remember, we are eternal. All this pain is an illusion. Phaedo: *Sick guitar solo*

My 4yo just pointed to a table and asked "Why is this a table?" I've trained my whole life for this.

I went with Baby's First Aristotle: "Because it's wood in the shape of a table, and wood in the shape of a table is just what a table is."

Check out my book (with Spencer Case) where we debate moral realism. Are there moral facts, or is morality just, like, your opinion, man? Coves all the basics for beginners, and then goes deep.

Even still, the answer is "follow the judges' decision" because that's how the constitution works.

Academia is not less appealing to conservatives. Rather, there is a critical mass of people in academia who think like this, and they work to purge academia of conservatives in both direct and indirect ways.

It is crazy to me how many people are saying "Huh, I guess the debate was just a bad day." Yes! Yes it was! It was a particular kind of bad day, the kind of bad day that only comes with increasing frequency over time. This is how cognitive decline works.

My masters seminar on metaethics this semester. Ambitious, but should be a ton of fun.

I warmly and enthusiastically welcome Trump voters who now regard their vote as a mistake. But I gently suggest that it may be in their interest to go through a similar process; what led them to discount liberal warnings, and how can they avoid similar mistakes in the future?

The lesson of the replication crisis is that this is 100% wrong. You can have hundreds of badly designed studies that all indicate the existence of something that just doesn't exist at all.
