Thank you @MWCDC_Pgh for hosting a community town hall and inviting me to connect with our neighbors.
I’m grateful to everyone who came out, raised concerns, and shared what they want to see from their government—from healthcare, to Social Security, to affordability.

- There is no shame in getting the resources you need. The shame is that our government is cutting programs like SNAP and making it harder for families to afford food and basic necessities. Stop judging people for seeking help. Hold elected officials accountable for failing them.
00:00 - The ribbon-cutting of @citizenscilab‘s MLK Center for Scientific Excellence is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we invest in our communities. Proud to support this new STEM hub to empower the next generation of innovators right here in the Hill District.
- I’m saddened by the passing of John Tague Jr., a tireless advocate for disability rights, accessibility, and public transit. His lifelong commitment to dignity, independence, and inclusion leaves a lasting legacy in Pittsburgh and beyond. My condolences to his loved ones.
- The Pentagon is the only place in America where you can fail 8 audits in a row, admit you’ll fail the next few & still get handed more money than you asked for. But let a family need help buying groceries and suddenly it’s a lecture about hard work, responsibility & bootstraps.
00:00 - Relieved to hear Salah Sarsour has been reunited with his loved ones after being wrongfully targeted and detained by ICE. No one should face retaliation for free speech or for advocating for Palestinian human rights. If his free speech isn’t protected, neither is yours.A federal judge ordered immigration officials to release the president of Wisconsin’s largest mosque from detention, finding that Salah Sarsour has raised a “substantial” claim that he was being targeted for speaking out in favor of Palestinian rights. cnn.it/4eRzQMv
- Juneteenth is a celebration of Black freedom, Black memory, and Black resistance. Honored to be in community at the Braddock and Swissvale Juneteenth celebrations, uplifting joy, history, and the ongoing fight for true liberation.
- Today I joined community leaders at the @PghFoodBank to discuss community needs. Food insecurity is an interconnected issue tied to housing, healthcare, utilities, and transportation costs, and I remain committed to working with our partners to find solutions.
- Great meeting with @RiverlifePgh aboard “Shore Thing” and learning about the impact this innovative space is having on our riverfront communities. Excited about their future plans and continued investment in accessible, vibrant public spaces along our waterways.
- Green schoolyards are investments in our children, schools, and communities. From outdoor classrooms to accessible community gardens, these projects show why my Revitalizing America’s Schoolyards Act is vital for student success. Thank you @WaterLandLife for having me!
- The Trump admin is illegally gutting the Dept. of Education by outsourcing key responsibilities for civil rights & special education. Only Congress can create or dismantle a federal agency. This reckless dismantling of public education harms students, families, and educators.BREAKING: The Trump administration is moving Education Department oversight of special education and civil rights to other agencies. apnews.com/article/trump-…
- For years, Hazelwood residents have had to leave their neighborhood to find fresh, affordable groceries. In the richest nation on Earth, food deserts shouldn't exist. Hazelwood should be no exception, and deserves a grocery store that meets the needs of the community.
- Money in politics is at the root of so many of our challenges. When big money drives decisions, everyday people lose their voice. If we get money out of politics, we can put priorities back where they belong: with the communities that we were elected to serve.
