Symlinked directory does not update with changes made outside the editor

Reproduction steps

1. On MacOS, symlink any directory under the project tree.
2. Add a file in the symlinked directory with a terminal
3. File does not appear in the editor file tree

Current vs. Expected behavior

All files are always synced.

A user can reproduce this on v0.222.4 of Zed (current stable as of me writing this): #48729 (comment).

The issue, at its core, is the very same: Zed does not recognize changes made to its project outside of the editor.
