Jaron's Birthday

Jaron turned the big 30 this year!

Kaden thoroughly enjoyed licking anything that had frosting on it.  He cleaned the bowl pretty good.

Image

I have some mad cake decorating skills.  Haha, not really, but this is the first frosting I've made that actually tasted decent.

All 30 candles.

Good thing we were outside.  It was quite the fire hazard.

Christmas

December came and went in a blur.  Between Christmas and a wedding in Jaron's family, it was a crazy month!

We got a pre-lit tree.  Awe. Some.

We went to see the lights at Temple Square.  A great benefit of Jaron working downtown - convenient parking.

Best. Fudge. Ever.  It's sugar cookie, and I can't find a recipe that even sounds like it might come close to this stuff.  It's from the Mousehouse Cheesehaus in Windsow, WI.  You can order online, or have an awesome family member live there that is willing to send it.  That might be the ONLY reason I don't want my parents to move back to Utah.  But there's a million reasons better than fudge that we want them back here.

We left some cookies for Santa.  Pretty impressive looking, huh?  Our neighbor gave us these, and we were too lazy busy to make our own, so we decided to share her delicious cookies with Santa.  Kaden ate the noses off before he went to bed.  Kaden also wrote the letter by himself, I just told him which letters to write.

And, Santa came!

Our not so awesome Christmas morning family picture.

We also found out Jaron's internship at the Church History library would be coming to an end.  He was hired on full time, effective on Christmas day!  What a great present!  He has now enjoyed a week of salaried employment and had his first paid holiday today!

Manly-Man Day

Jaron decided it was time for some manly-man time with Kaden.  They decided to go fishing.  Unfortunately, it was a really windy day and they didn't catch anything.  Well, that's not entirely true.  Kaden caught his cheek, but he's fine.  There's not even a mark anymore.

Lousy Week

Some of you may know, Jaron was in an accident last week. His blood sugar was low on his way home from work and he hit a light post. He's fine, coming away with just 13 stitches, a scratch on his wrist and leg, and some soreness. Here's some pictures. WARNING: There are some gross ones if you have a weak stomach. Jaron never saw the van, and obviously can't see the top of his head, so he wanted to see them. Sorry if it grosses anyone out.

This is what cut his head. He hit hard enough that the visor cracked the windshield.

If you click this one you can see a big crack in the windshield. I'm not sure what it's from. Maybe just the impact.

Like I said, Jaron is fine. He was in good spirits by the time we left the hospital. He was only there for about 3 hours. The nurses were saying it's a good thing he wasn't there the night before, because it was crazy.
There were some good and bad things about the accident.
Bad: Jaron has stitches in his head, and it was in his mostly bald spot.
Good: He only has 13 stitches (He was conuting all his previous stitch incidents and calculated this brought him up to 60 stitches in his life. I thought it would have been more.)
Bad: I didn't have a phone number for anyone in the ward to leave the kids with.
Good: I remembered I have a friend in town. She was willing to take the kids, even though they were covered in licorice drool and hadn't had dinner.
Bad: We're down to only one car
Good: It was the car that isn't paid for yet (good only as long as the insurance pays enough to pay it off)
Bad: We didn't register the van before it expired. I wouldn't be surprised if we got a ticket.
Good: We didn't waste $150+ on registration, and he didn't get a ticket at the scene.
Bad: We couldn't pick up the lawn mower because we no longer had a vehicle big enough to get it home. The lawn desperately needs to be mowed. Someone even asked Jaron about it at church yesterday.
Good: My sister and her hubby brought their truck up on Saturday and we got the lawn mower.
Bad: It didn't get mowed on Saturday because the boys were installing the laminate floor (that's a good thing). It's raining today, of course.
Good...?: Jaron says he's mowing it tonight anyways.
Good: I had the car seats in the other car, so we don't have to get new ones.
Good: Insurance

New Job

Jaron is loving his new job so far. The commute...not so much, but the job is good. Doesn't he look spiffy in his new suit (and no shoes!)?

New Job

I'm a little behind in posting this, but Jaron got an intership with the LDS Church History Library in Salt Lake City! He'll be starting February 1st! I'll still be working in Logan, so he'll be commuting for now. We're still trying to figure out day care and if/when/where we'll move. Somewhere in the middle would be good! So, YAY!

Independence Day

We had a full, fun holiday weekend.

Friday we BBQ'd at Brittany's house:

Kaylee with Grandma and Grandpa Reese

Kaden LOVES watermelon!

We celebrated Jaron's dad's and Ashley's birthdays

We did fireworks at Grandma and Grandpa Reese's house. Kaden was NOT a fan. He got out of the van and heard people throwing snaps, and freaked out. All day he was so excited about fireworks, but once he heard them, he didn't want to be there. He stayed in the stroller with his ears covered most of the time. We were able to see the stadium fireworks from there, and Kaden was MUCH more excited about those because they weren't loud.
Image
Saturday morning we went to the parade in Hyrum. Again, Kaden wasn't a fan of people throwing snaps! I think he hated that more than he hated the fire trucks. At least the people in the fire trucks were throwing candy. But if someone didn't throw candy, Kaden would point it out every time.
Image

One of the fire trucks squirted us and Kaden didn't want to be wet. So, the next time someone was spraying water, Grandpa Dan gave Kaden his hat to cover up with.Image

After the parade, we had lunch at Jaron's Aunt Jean's, then we all went home and crashed. I think Kaylee's face sums up how we felt at the end of the day.

Image

Isn't her dress cute? It says "Miss Independent" on that little blue rectangle.

Other stuff we've been up to:
  • Saw Wolverine....mmmmm, it was awesome!
  • Jaron had a birthday
  • Kaylee is now 12 lbs and fits size 2 diapers. She's not even 2 months old!
  • I'm back at work
  • Kaden can get his shirt off and on by himself, but still refuses to get dressed by himself
  • We blessed Kaylee on Sunday. Those pictures will be coming tonight!

Graduation Part I

I'll be doing these in four separate posts. We took over 100 pictures, so be prepared! I went a little crazy playing with my parents sweet new camera. Don't worry, I narrowed it down a bit.
The morning started when Jaron had to be lined up outside in the rain at 8:30 am. His hat got a little messed up, but oh well.

This is Jaron standing by himself because they had each college stand. This is when they asked Education to stand, but he was sitting with HASS (he got degrees from both colleges. That's also why he's wearing two tassels). I think he felt pretty cool being the only one around him standing up.
Image

He's pretty hot, huh?
Image

My cheeseball who was MORE than ready to go home at this point. Before the ceremony even started, he asked if we could go home. At least we got a smile out of him. He was pretty grumpy. Thanks to my dad for taking care of him while he was freaking out!Image

Kaden loved daddy's "silly hat" and the things hanging from it.
Image

Yay, dad is done! Is it nap time yet?
