    Being an analog teacher with paper everywhere is very expensive copy wise lol. But student annotations and markings make it so worthwhile.

    More people should do what Christopher is doing here and question questionable tools and practices. These things are often sold quietly, then pushed on teachers who aren’t in a position to push back.

    There is a product pushed at schools that asks children to read aloud while a 'reading window' moves across the lines at a speed determined by the program. It is a deeply misguided idea that could only be created by someone with a weak grasp of reading development. >>

    Excellent, thoughtful take on the tradeoffs of teaching. Too often it’s presented as just a checklist of stuff to do, rather than as a set of tensions to manage and constantly keep in balance.
