Unlike Ganon-corrupted Guardians, Guardian Scouts can fight with things other than a death laser (they have that too, though). I just barely managed to finish a minor test of strength, and that still cost me 2 tries. Does anyone know how to counter each of the Guardian Scout's attacks, or just some general tips when fighting them?

For regular swing/stab attacks, just flurry rush them. Right before it attacks, it'll bring its weapon back and rotate it around the wrist joint.
When the scout does its spinning charge attack, get behind a pillar (a cryonis pillar also works) and wait for the scout to crash into it. It will then be stunned and you can get a lot of attacks off.
When the scout does its spinning laser attack, take out your paraglider and use the updraft to get close to the scout, then slam attack after it's finished. Alternatively, you can also send some arrows while bullet time's available.
When the scout is almost dead, it'll start charging its laser for a series of consecutive shots. If you're close enough, try to kill it before it can let any off, but if not, wait until it starts shooting and run around the scout in circles; the lasers will all miss.
You can also shoot an arrow into its eye to stun it. Additionally, Ancient weapons or armour will be extra effective.
Later game, once you have better weapons, more stamina, and don't want to deal with all of that, equip a heavy, two-handed Ancient weapon (eg an Ancient Battleax+), a high damage multishot bow, and Ancient armour. You may also want to eat some food with strength buffs. Then, do your charge attack and spin around the scout in circles. You will very easily get the scout to critical health, and when it starts charging its laser, shoot it in the eye and finish it off with another charge attack. You should be able to defeat any scout this way in half a minute or less.

What's a slam attack? I know you can do a charged attack by holding y, but I don't think those are the same thing. Also, how do you time the dodges for the regular attacks? Is there any indication it's about to attack?Blue-Blimp– Blue-Blimp2025-12-06 04:42:25 +00:00Commented 11 hours ago

@Blue-Blimp While in the air, if you press the attack button, you'll swing downwards towards the ground and land with an impact - that's a slam attack. Right before it'll attack, it'll bring its weapon back and rotate it around the wrist joint.Otakuwu– Otakuwu2025-12-06 04:46:58 +00:00Commented 11 hours ago

Just tried doing a Major TOS and it went predictably bad… guess I’ll go find some better equipment!Blue-Blimp– Blue-Blimp2025-12-06 05:21:11 +00:00Commented 10 hours ago

@Blue-Blimp: should be doable and any level, but you just have to find the rhythm. You'll eventually want to farm Major TOS for weapons later on so you'll want to get good at it. ;) Try to go in with a lot of support weapons as well. Most elemental arrows will be helpful, especially ice arrows. And try to find a good multishot arrow for added effect.Jeff Mercado– Jeff Mercado2025-12-06 05:47:55 +00:00Commented 10 hours ago

@JeffMercado I know, but that's the problem-my current weapons and bows are just out of their league (Eightfold blades, which do 15 damage, are still very good weapons for me)... maybe I'll try to get stasis+ first.Blue-Blimp– Blue-Blimp2025-12-06 05:53:28 +00:00Commented 10 hours ago
