Sparrow In Ice

 This of course is for...

Image

Let us always be friendly and thinking ahead and help.
Tomorrow I have a recap of that of 2025.

"Habits of the 1960s that would be unthinkable today

Image

 Telephones

In the early 1960s, rotary dial telephones became increasingly unpopular, while tone dial telephones became increasingly popular."

Here is ...

Image

Big Niece, being 3 back then saw this and knew what it was!
I called China at age 2 cause Dad showed me how to use it and left me alone.
Was an expensive experience. Did he learn? No. Taught me how to drive our BMW at age 14. go figure... Do I miss him.

Image

That was fun in the early 70´s in Germany, dress up and act (up) - as many an animal is allowed to do today.

Counts as... ok, no, here is Henry 🦁

 You gotta love 'em...

And right now...

King Frog is surprisingly still happy! And I forgot the BBQ-coal outside - aw, well, let´s...

I´m With Bill!

Image

The door-mat to our living room where I have my private PC and my work-place.
Ingo´s wish, the mat.

I am more...

Image

Those are Elmo´s socks, knitted by Ingo´s late Grandma... soon it´s time for them to be put on! And think of her.... she was a very sweet lady.

See... Ingo is a fair man. He went with me to EVERY second hand book shop throughout Australia and... tadaaa:

Image

James Blish, all 12 books! From the 1960´s! And more!

Image

What we had to drink in 1999?

Image

Drove me nuts! And despite I went to watch the darn movie with Ingo!
Seldom I can say that: I am too young, I was a kiddo when the movie was a hype and then too old to get it!

Image

Well. We are Germans... Also I prefer this:

Image

Maybe a story to come, but the title?

Yes, I´m with Bill! Please turn on the sound - it´s FUNNY!!!! BIG THANKS to Ingo who pointed me to this!!! In the unlike event you are not familiar: William Shatner (Bill) played Captain James T Kirk on the starship Enterprise. And note the tear in George Lukas´ eye, awww...
And the reference to Gene (Rodenberry)... 🥰🥰🥰🥰

LLAP!!!! (Live Long And Prosper)

He HAD to end with that!!! LOL.
Ingo´s Dad once asked what Ingo´s fav song was. Here it goes:

 The internet series:

Highway to Hell: Spooky Stories from Route 66

Image

The grave of Billy Cook

Billy Cook Jr., a native of Joplin, Missouri, embarked on a terror-filled spree along Route 66 in 1950. After murdering six people and a dog, Cook was arrested and quickly executed in California. His body was returned to his hometown of Joplin for burial.

Unfortunately, Cook was also an outcast in his hometown, and the local church only agreed to bury his body if his grave remained unmarked. This fact seems to anger Cook, and locals say he can be seen standing at the edge of the church grounds (not pictured), fuming with rage."

The countdown to Creep:

Image

 Kinda obvious...

Ho, boy, even the creeps are afraid, it seems - weird times...

FFO From Last Decade - Smile!

Image

The face with which I join  Nicole´s FFO and Gillena today is mine....
Maybe you read the post about what I have from my beloved 1970´s... I also found this pic.
This is my Brother´s old room where he´d "parked" some furniture from our childhood.
He wanted to give me these, but... we have a swing, so sadly no space....
Hence... I have a bitter sweet SMILE for Annie here.

Image

I had to read Christmas-poems.... Dad mentioned me by name in these pics, instead for my Brother´s he wrote "Soon Santa Clause is coming". Oh, Dad, I miss you... so here is another face:

Image

The "Bride" is a man also - that was a hip fun back in the day, it seems.
So... some fun?

Image

That is why my cam is off...

Image

Image

I can work remote for ESE!!! I got a contract (ok, just for "the training", but if I don´t fail I might get my job back!) Monday: teams-meeting with my loved ALSTOM, this time Vienna.

Image

HR looked so hungry upon the smell...

Image

 And of course...

Image

To getting lost twice in one day in my hometown.... Bobby????

Huuuh Time Warp

Image

Wiki says: "Plaste and Elaste from Schkopau is an advertising slogan from the GDR that referred to plastic products from VEB Chemische Werke Buna, based in Schkopau in Saxony-Anhalt...

Plaste was a brand name for thermoplastics and Elaste a brand name for elastomers, which had been developed by the Buna works in the early 1930s and had made Germany largely independent of imports of plastics and natural rubber...

In West Germany, as in other countries, the terms 'plastic' or 'synthetic' were used for synthetic materials..." (translation by DeepL

And from that material  these beauties were made:

Ingo has a white one... shoot, must look where that is - must be as old!!!

Image

The 70´s were such HAPPY times (for me).

Some things I took to Braunschweig for safe living:

Image

My Brother was born late 1977 and let me have it all as it does not mean much to him.
By the lamp was a telephone, in white, this was in another place:

Image

I could barely sit. Dad´d taught me what a telephone was for.
Left me by myself for a couple of minutes.
Was proud I "fake-used" it until.... I "spoke" Japanese. He´d by chance (via selling many SEIKO-watches) been to Japan hence heard...

Woooohhhh, expensive call I did.
Did he learn?
Nope. Taught me to drive the BMW when I was 14. Go figure.

I didn´t let the clock get repaired to keep the price-tag Dad wrote by hand...
Boy that clock was expensive - no wonder he didn´t sell it in our little town!

Same here:

Image

The PHILIPS also had a radio!!!
Mom had some cosmetics in this:

In the bedroom:

Image

These I found rotten in the attic too late, very, very sadly...

Image

Dad teaching me how to "read". Glasses were fake but, notice: Thongs on from early on!
Not necessarily an "Aussie-thing" - how about you - flip-flops forever?

Certainly it does not stop!!!!

Image

Just like that - in the street! Also this beaut:

Image

What were or are your fav times of your life?

I mean... I´d never want to miss any of our journeys, either!!
I think I can be very, VERY thankful.
Despite having a chronically sick partner I was lucky and happy most of my life so far!

The (old) internet-series:

"33 retro dishes that are rarely served today

Image

Kaszanka

Sausages are an art form in their own right – from bratwurst to currywurst to grützwurst. The latter originates from the former GDR and is a type of black pudding with grain groats. This traditional dish is also known as 'Dead Grandma,' served with boiled potatoes and sauerkraut. The dish owes its macabre name to the red color of the grützwurst. In the past, this delicacy was a must-have in every restaurant, and today, with a bit of luck, you can still find it in traditional beer halls in some regions."

I think I skip, "Dead Grandma" sound not really yummy...

Btw.... My Dad´s hand.... mine looks the same now.
