I'm a solo developer, and I've had solar panels on my roof in Southern California since 2019. In June 2025, after years of $0 monthly bills, SCE sent me a bill for $994.36. Nothing was broken. I just didn't know how to read my own electric bill, and it turns out almost nobody does.
Sunledger is what I built about it. You drop in the PDF of your electric bill and it hands it back in plain English: what you're paying, what each charge is for, and why it's that much. Free, no account, and every number it says comes straight off your own bill. It reads SCE bills today, and every bill someone lends us from another utility teaches it the next one.
