Restricted Code are a Glasgow band playing original, intelligent pop rooted in new wave.
Restricted Code are a Glasgow new-wave band who first made their name between 1978 and 1981 — signed to Bob Last’s Pop:aural, touring with The Human League, recording for John Peel, and hailed by Sounds for the “best gig of 1981” — yet split before releasing an album. Reunited decades later around their original core, they finally delivered that debut, Chasing Shadows (2025, Last Night From Glasgow), reaching #34 on the UK Official Scottish Albums Chart and #13 on the Indie Breakers Chart — and play now like they never stopped.

Recorded on 10 March 1981 at the BBC’s Langham 1 studio and first broadcast on Radio 1 on 17 March 1981. Produced by Dale Griffin and engineered by Mike Robinson. Four tracks: Monkey Monkey Monkey, We Know We Know, Yakov Bok and Shake Your Body.
