It’s just 72 days until @AlabamaMBB tips off its season on Nov. 3 and today we remember the 1972 team that set the foundation for head coach C.M. Newton and the elite run in the 70s. Alabama finished 18-8 overall, 13-5 SEC, its best record since “The Rocket Eight” in 1956.

Since it’s 73 days until @AlabamaMBB tips off the season on Nov. 3, today we spotlight the 1973 Crimson Tide that finished 22-8 overall, 13-5 SEC and earned an NIT berth. Wendell Hudson led the team in scoring with 20.7 points per game and earned SEC Player of the Year honors.

With just 74 days until @AlabamaMBB tips off its season on Nov. 3, we remember the 1974 Crimson Tide. Head coach C.M. Newton started the first all-Black lineup in the SEC on Dec. 28, 1973, with Ray Odums, T.R. Dunn, Charles Cleveland, Charles "Boonie" Russell and Leon Douglas.
