    Even if he is deemed a public figure that doesn’t shield a media organization from being held accountable for gross reporting negligence and a story basically built on hearsay. If you’re going to be the country’s newspaper then report to at least the standards held in JN211.

    I honestly thought it was a default setting for anyone on the roster of a No. 1 team that plays in the SEC. There’s room for disagreement. Just telling you how I saw it.

    I’m sure they will appeal, but regardless I hope this ruling makes national media outlets think twice about parachuting in to produce stories with their usual arrogance. It’s even more rewarding that it’s the NYT that got embarrassed for gross negligence and suspect sources.
