We've been ‘Roman’ across America for the last few years celebrating Roman’s milestones! Check out these throwback photos from the 235th AAS meeting in Honolulu, HI, Dark Sky Parties in @BryceCanyonNPS and @GrandCanyonNPS, and a total solar eclipse at the Indy Speedway!
A miniature model of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, about the size of a football, sitting on the edge of a rock overlooking the Grand Canyon. The sky is blue with clouds and small trees are clustered just behind the model.
A miniature model of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, about the size of a football, being held up next to the Indy 500 trophy. The trophy is silver and very shiny, with a statue of a man holding a checkered flag on top. The background is a clear blue sky with no clouds.
A 1/80th scale model of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope sitting on a brown rock ledge. The model is about the size of a football and shaped like a cylinder with an angled end that is the silver-covered sun shade pointing towards the sky. Brown rock columns are in the background. The sky is light blue, with clouds scattered throughout.
A miniature orange model of WFIRST, before it was renamed the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, on a rock in Hawaii with the ocean in the background. The sky is light blue with clouds.

Dr. Nancy Grace Roman, our namesake, is sometimes called the “mother of Hubble,” but she’s really the mother of all space-based observatories! As NASA’s first chief astronomer, she supercharged space science and helped make NASA what it is today. tumblr.com/nasa/824036896…
