    This is an important distinction @_TylerHillery is making, and funnily enough, we've actually built both variants at Turso. We started out with asynchronous writes to S3, which essentially means some other storage system is the source of truth. For us it was EBS volumes,

    I have found the phrase "databases built on S3" misleading. In some of these systems an ACK'd write doesn't even reach S3 so in what sense is S3 the source of truth?

    I should finish my "How Turso is tested" blog post one day, but... DST is a superpower, but there's lots of edge cases to discover with traditional fuzz testing, non-deterministic testing, and formal methods on top.

    Who are the misfits that do actual development with just locally running AI models? What kind of hardware do you use? Which models? Which coding harnesses?
