Cloud terms
Hosted Sync, Backup, and Publish. Updated October 12, 2026.
The hosted service
These terms describe the hosted ZenNotes Cloud service. Cloud is optional: ending a subscription does not remove files already downloaded to your devices. You retain ownership of your content and give the service permission to process it to deliver the features you request.
Subscriptions and charges
The price, billing interval, and selected capacity are shown before checkout. Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. Stripe processes payments and any applicable tax. Keep your payment method current and review the total shown by Stripe before confirming.
A first subscription can start with a free trial. Its length and the date of the first charge are shown before checkout. Stripe collects your payment method at checkout and charges it when the trial ends, unless you cancel before then. A trial is offered once per person, and not to an account that had a subscription or beta access before.
Capacity options replace the named total limit; for example, the 10 GB option means 10 GB of active sync storage in total. Upgrades and billing-interval changes show a Stripe invoice preview before confirmation. Scheduled reductions take effect at renewal. A failed or incomplete payment can delay a change or restrict access.
Canceling and deleting an account
Cancel through Manage billing in your dashboard. A normal cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid billing period. Account deletion cancels billing immediately as part of removing the account.
After service access ends, you have 30 days to download retained data. New writes and new backups are unavailable during this window. Backups still expire on their original schedule. After the window, Cloud data is eligible for permanent removal. Published pages stop being publicly available when Publish access ends.
For billing errors or a refund request, contact support. These terms do not remove refund or cancellation rights provided by applicable law.
Limits, backups, and recovery
Use the limits shown for your account. Reducing capacity does not immediately erase files, but additional writes may be blocked until usage is reduced. Customer backups follow the account's snapshot count, size, item, and retention limits.
Keep independent local copies of important work. Cloud backups and operator recovery reduce risk but do not guarantee recovery from every failure. Web ZIP exports currently support up to 50,000 files and 10 GB per vault.
An end-to-end encrypted vault can be read only with your encryption passphrase or recovery key, which ZenNotes never receives. If you lose both, ZenNotes cannot recover the encrypted copy held in Cloud, from backups or otherwise; the notes on your devices are not affected. Web ZIP exports are not available for encrypted vaults.
The service may be interrupted for maintenance, failures, or security work. Contact support if a sync, billing, backup, or restore operation does not complete.
Responsible use
Protect your account and only upload or publish content you are entitled to use. Do not use Cloud to distribute unlawful content, compromise other accounts, bypass service limits, or disrupt the service. Access or public publishing may be restricted for abuse or security reasons.
Public links are shareable, and third parties may retain copies. Review your note and attachments before publishing. The Cloud privacy policy explains how account and content data are handled.
