The Lantern staff would like to congratulate the AHS winners of the UVA art museum’s Writers Eye competition:

Kaitlyn Miller’s story “Paradise” placed first in the High School Prose category. Our advisor Charlotte Wood’s story “Locking Horns” placed second in the University/Adult Prose category.

Also congratulations to Mike Dolzer whose essay, “Life is a Miracle,” is now published on Teen Ink’s website with an Editor’s Choice recommendation.

Congrats all!

WINNERS!

The Lantern would like to congratulate several of our staff members for their achievements.

Abby Egner, Kathlynn Lewis and Austen Weathersby all won the Jefferson Madison Regional Library Teen Poetry Contest.  Their entries will be submitted to the Voice of Youth Advocates Poetry Contest, with a chance to be published in the VOYA journal.

Katie Gilmore’s story “Christmas Pines” is being published by the national literary/art magazine Teen Ink.

We will publish some of the pieces on the website during the next month.  Keep a look out!
