A while ago I got interested in being more agentic. Emmett Shear tweeted that it was teachable. He would train people by prompting them with certain questions. I gathered those questions and put them into a flow chart that I go through to problem-solve: x.com/eshear/status/…

tbh when i was dating, i was kinda cheap and thought to myself "i want to make sure i find someone who's financially conscious" but now, having met my gf, it's like some hidden boy brain programming got activated: make MONEY so she can buy WHATEVER she WANTS and be HAPPY

I was at the doctors office in the waiting room and everyone was on their phone there was a chick whose shirt I liked. I thought about saying something but I hesitated - eh no one seems like socializing here but then she put her phone down for a sec so I went for it.

“I like your shirt!” “Oh thanks! My niece gave it to me..” And then bam, a conversation erupted. Other ppl joined in, we started talking about pets. It was surprising to me. I underestimated the “socializing” potential energy. Ppl were refreshed by the opportunity to socialize

Which is interesting to me because I would have never guessed it beforehand. People seemed pretty content to chill on their phones. I’m gonna try and remember that next time I wanna hesitate

Blown away by the realization that I don’t have to motivate myself to do anything. I just have to make myself feel safe enough to do it, and I’ll just start doing it. If I want to do it but I’m blocked, it’s not a motivation problem, it’s a nervous system problem

I have a theory that “being sensitive to opportunity” is also itself a proxy for.. something that I can’t figure out what to call it but it’s the polar opposite of a victim mentality my anecdote for this is chess

imo "being lucky" here is a proxy for "being sensitive to opportunity". if you can figure out how to win with one youtube tutorial, why bother doing more than that?

I just try to always have a job that makes a lot of money and focus on making sure that my top 3 expenditures (eg rent car) are reasonable, everything else takes care of itself

kinda scared to ask this, might delete, but i've seen a lot of anti-men gender discourse lately and it's got me a little down about being a man is there any pro-men internet space that i can lurk in as a palate cleanser? like maybe wives talking about their wonderful husbands?
