The outgoing Chief Secretary to the PM is right. Ministers repeatedly denied that Digital ID would cost £1.8bn over three years, but Burnham is now say he is using the savings to fund an £850m cut in VAT on energy this year. 1/3

Good news that VAT will be cut on electricity bills. It’s a simple way for families to save a few quid, and to mechanically help to keep inflation that little bit lower. But the DigitalID program was unfunded. The government will have to set out how it will pay for its new

Senior Labour people are pointing out that Burnham is lying about how he plans to "fund" his promises. Wow, bad start!

It’s falling apart already. Labour say they will fund a VAT cut to energy bills by scrapping their proposed Digital ID cards. But the cuts to the Digital ID card budget are not real because the money was never provided for in the first place. As the OBR stated in November last

I congratulate @Heidi_Labour on her reappointment as @transportgovuk Secretary. But I hope under the new Prime Minister, Labour is prepared now to take the necessary decisions needed that the @Conservatives have called for, including 🚘 Axe the ban on petrol, diesel & hybrid

Congratulations to John Healey on his appointment. He can now ensure the Defence Investment Plan is properly funded. Conservatives will work with him to cut benefits so we can fund defence. Because we can’t have higher taxes or even more borrowing.

Congratulations @patmcfaddenmp on your reappointment. When you said every meeting with Labour MPs is “who can we tax in order to pay benefits…” …I don’t believe you agreed. Will the new PM back you to do the right thing and make welfare savings?

Victory! The Dartmoor ponies have been saved. The government has listened to us and other campaigners, and removed incentives for them to be culled.

🚨 Labour's flagship ZEV Mandate is only being kept alive because manufacturers are forced to buy compliance credits from Chinese-owned BYD and Elon Musk's Tesla to avoid whopping great fines. Thanks to Ed Miliband's net zero nonsense, they can't simply get on with building and

Sent with 45 minutes notice. A fifteen minute discussion with hoards of MPs invited. Really poor from @mhclg. Local Government Reorganisation is huge for my community and to fail to brief us before is deeply disappointing.

Rural Devon has been stitched up by Labour. Supposedly reorganised based on creating better places and economic growth, I fear only the urban centres will benefit and the rural communities will be left behind with two tier council tax to boot.

The Tories gave us a botched Brexit deal, national sewage scandal and Dartmoor ponies under threat. This Labour government is cleaning up their mess. Dartmoor ponies have been removed from stocking numbers and I’ve introduced a new payment to reward farmers for keeping ponies.
