When the 77 Fire ignited near Mecca, California, our firefighters from the South Coast Unit were called to assist, and their expertise made a difference. Two USWFS Type 3 engine crews were specifically requested to conduct a firing operation to secure the fire's southern flank.

This Independence Day, help keep wildland firefighters focused on the fires they can't prevent. Remember that fireworks are prohibited on public lands, know your local fire restrictions, secure your trailer chains, and make sure every campfire is dead out before you leave.
