Ministers claimed they didn’t know the damage their changes to business rates would do. That’s not an excuse. If you’re a Minister making a decision on tax, you’re given analysis on what it’ll do. Labour either didn’t listen or didn’t care: full U-turn now.

Shocking why anyone takes these people seriously: - Don’t run for elections - Don’t practice themselves what they preach for others - Incoherent economic babblings Amazing what the BBC/C4 will book on air these days.

How much is paid in voluntary donations to the Treasury? @PatMillsUK say lots of millionaires want to pay more tax - yet only £700k was donated in last 3 years 🤔 So if you do want to give more money to the Treasury it is simple - just visit gov.uk/guidance/volun…

‘Manchester-ism’ needs to remember where it is sending its bills. Just 10% of hard-workers in the UK pay nearly 60 per cent of income tax and the top 1% - those who have not already left - pay 27%. Only so many times you can pluck the golden geese.

Pro-business is about the actions you take, not something you can ‘self identify’ as: Cheaper energy, cut red tape, lower taxes and repeal Labours (Un)Employment Rights Act.

🚨 NEW: Andy Burnham lists 5 changes he will make as Labour leader 1. End infighting within the party 2. End point-scoring 3. Set out a direction that is "distinctively Labour" by "being us" 4. Return power to people across the entire UK 5. Be a "pro-business leader"

Few industries make as large a contribution to British jobs and prosperity as aerospace. Conservatives including myself and Shadow Defence Secretary @jcartlidgemp will be at @FIAFarnborough in force to show our support 🇬🇧

Today’s 1970s style nationalisation of British Steel is a historic mistake. Labour put up energy costs, taxes, and red tape. They blocked a coking coal mine. That’s why steelmaking is in trouble. Now they’ve let the Chinese off the hook for £2.5 billion+ of costs.

FIFA fined our players for wearing poppies in 2016. They banned Spanish players in 2024. The Argentinian players’ display yesterday was disgusting and an insult to the Falkland Islanders. Why shouldn’t FIFA ban the Argie players from the final??

Labour’s Chagos surrender has made us look weak, and British territory up for grabs. The Falklands are British. Whoever won the football. This idiotic display from the Argies was clearly against FIFA rules. They should be punished.

A pleasure to speak at Canning House alongside a group focussed on Latin America, including business leaders and diplomats. We had a productive discussion on the Conservative vision for growth and our future strategy to boost UK trade with this fast growing region.

In ‘low-growth’ UK, one sector is growing off the charts. Regulation. And particularly employment regulation. And it’s about to get worse. Much worse. ⬇️ A government of left-wing lawyers, NGO activists and trade union hacks sees grievance in every workplace. Yesterday Labour

I’ve been a Member of Parliament for getting on for six years. Not once has any constituent ever indicated support for Mauritius to be given the Chagos Islands plus a £47 billion taxpayer dowry. Just how out of touch is Labour?!

If Andy Burnham is so foolish as to pursue the Chagos deal we will dedicate all our energy to removing him from office as swiftly as possible - as we did with Starmer Save Chagos 🇮🇴 Me for @Telegraph telegraph.co.uk/gift/525e418bc…

Why won't Labour accept free trade is a Brexit benefit? We warmly welcome the new trade agreement with Switzerland, but it was only possible because of Brexit. Now they want to drag us back into the grip of the EU!
