Lauren Edwards publishing deeply flawed Assisted Dying Bill today. 🚨MPs asked to back reckless Parliament Acts Plan and reject all changes 🚨 Refused to address concerns raised by Royal Colleges, EHRC, and domestic abuse orgs etc. 🚨 No promise to back changes in the Lords 1/

.@PaulBrandITV you've made - or certainly shared - an accusation in DM. Let's deal with this in the open. My opposition to Kim Leadbeater's bill is entirely voluntary. I am in fact sympathetic to the principle. I started out extremely worried by the process, and evolved to a

I’ve been given a copy of the briefing Kim Leadbeater issued journalists and MPs. There are so many misleading statements in 7 pages, I've just chosen 8. 3 on the first page. This is not ok. A thread 👇

Well said @Tanni_GT. The crossbench peer, who won 11 Paralympic gold medals, told Times Radio: “If you are disabled and terminally ill and your benefits are cut, making life intolerable, it’s obvious more people will feel forced down this route to end their lives early.”

Don’t think I’ve ever heard an MP on any Committee ever use a Point of Order to shut down a witness because they didn’t like the answer. Not the first time Points of Order being abused in this Committee.

Baroness Falkner (@KishwerFalkner) points out there was no consultation and the process hasn't been transparent. Kim Leadbeater's not happy about her noticing these facts.

What have we learned after two days of Assisted Dying Committee evidence? 1. Lack of access to palliative care is a major barrier to assisted dying being a genuine choice.

Learning disabilities? Autistic? Downs Syndrome? Don't worry you too can have an assisted death according to Lord Falconer

    Replying to @nmdacosta
Falconer: those with learning disabilities, autism... with proper care we can make sure they have that option too!

I really don’t think the public view ‘aborting’ a full term baby as a reproductive right.

Spectator opposing MPs supporting NC20 to make abortion access a safe and legal right in England and Wales as it is in Northern Ireland because I have kids. 🤡 Mums and dads, non parents all - if you think reproductive rights matter email your MP tonight action.goodlawproject.org/decriminalise-…

Absolutely fed up with the moral vortex of the Assisted Suicide Bill. No-one is taking responsibility. No one will be held to account. All the detail unresolved. Powers bestowed on ministers to do just as they please. MPs tuned out. Slow hand clap for Westminster.

Hear Kim Leadbeater has tonight tabled a motion for Committee to sit in private, not public, to discuss when and how long it sits and who it hears from. Public would have to leave, nothing would be broadcast. No transcript. Transparency builds trust. This change erodes 1/

Is Lord Brooke, sitting one seat along from the sponsor of the Bill, advocating for assisted dying as a tool of population control? An extraordinary contribution suggesting human life be actively sacrificed to prevent climate change. This bill drives utilitarian thinking!

Twice MPs asked for the British Geriatrics Society to be called to give evidence. Twice the Committee refused. They said there was no time. But next week is now completely clear. Is 30 minutes too much to ask?

Older people make up the majority of those dying each year. The BGS is concerned about the lack of representation from older people’s healthcare specialists and older people themselves on the witness list for the Assisted Dying Bill - @JKDhesi buff.ly/4hyR0wW

Night all. Very grateful to the just shy of 7k of you who have stuck with me through 6+ months of trying to wake MPs up about this Bill. Thank you for help spreading the word and your tolerance for my hyper-focus and attempts to try and explain this mess of a Bill.
