Tests for peak volume, known as spike tests, may test how a system responds to high volumes for a short periods of time. Endurance tests may also be run to see how the system performs under load for a prolonged period of time. Each test is designed to confirm that a system meets a set of performance specifications defined by criteria such as page load time. The goal is typically to ensure that user interfaces and automation remain responsive under load.
