A resource is anything that is used to create value. It is a basic concept in economics that is used to model the productive capacity and constraints of a nation, organization or individual. The following are common types of resources.
Knowledge Knowledge such as know-how .
Labor The productive capacity of people.
Land Space for nature, living, commercial activity, agriculture and energy production.
Natural Resources Air, water, trees, minerals and other resources that come from the natural environment.
Energy Renewable energy sources such as light and wind and non-renewable sources such as oil and natural gas.
Technology Software, hardware, data, tools and capital equipment.
Services Services such as a government that provides a stable, safe and fair environment.
Finance Economic structures such as currency, markets and payments that allow economic activity to occur.
Infrastructure Foundational structures that act as a basis for economic activity such as bridges or electrical grids.
Transportation Transportation infrastructure, trains, ships, vehicles and aircraft.
Architecture Commercial, institutional and residential buildings and structures.
