Deep space is a term for the Universe beyond the gravitational influence of Earth. The term is used to distinguish between the large number of space missions that involve orbiting the earth with missions that go further to investigate the solar system. For example, a deep space network is a communications network designed to communicate and track space missions beyond the Earth's orbit.
