Easter, Bunny-Mallows and a FREEBIE!

Image

We had the best Easter weekend.  It was filled with family fun, great food, lots of sweets, egg dying, a wonderful church service and two egg hunts!  After all that Easter fun, I was a bit inspired to create a fun graphing activity to go with these Bunny-Mallows I found at the store.

Here are a few pics from our family Easter egg hunt.  I was worried about how many eggs she would get this year, and let me tell ya-- this girl was a pro!  Her bag was so heavy... I kept asking her to let me carry it and she refused until I finally just took it away! haha She is a mess.  It truly was the best weekend!!!

I simply LOVE being home with this little lady.  However, I am horrible at doing fun teachery stuff with her!  So, I am going to start making more of an effort and we started with water colors!  It was the cutest thing ever-- she started painting her nails with it.  Haha, I have such a diva!

Interactive Math Journals for Pre-K

Image

I am so excited to announce that I FINALLY finished another Interactive Journal set, and this time it's for your little Pre-K Mathematicians!!!

I have included prompts to match every Pre-K Math Standard.
There are also so many different levels of each prompt.  I did this for many reasons.  1.  You can build on their learning.  2.  You can differentiate their math journals.  3.  Math Journals are the perfect documentation for learning!

Here are just a few examples of the prompts included:

Think you might want to try them out in your classroom???

If you aren't sure you want to invest in journals yet, use a piece of construction paper or copy paper.  Although, students take a lot of pride and ownership in their interactive journals.  I do not think you would be disappointed if you decided to jump on board!

Working with Teachers

This week I had the privileged to go into a few different teacher's classrooms and do a sample lesson with the Promethean Board.

I have not been trained by the company, but had a board in my own classroom for a little over 3 years.  I definitely DON'T know everything about these boards, but I truly enjoy creating engaging lesson plans and have a love for the school (MTCS)!

Image

One of the lessons I did was for the Kindergarten teachers.  I had two classes in the room at once, so I had to keep the lesson short and sweet.

They had been working on Pumpkins and numbers. So, I focused my lesson on comparing numbers.  If you have a Promethean Board and would like to have this flipchart, click the picture below.  Pretty please leave positive feedback if you download it.

I also created a simple assessment so I could check for understanding, but also have a few minutes to talk to each teacher about some of the things I did in my flipchart, as well as answer any questions.

I saw so many awesome things hanging on the walls at MTCS, but here are a few I had to snap a pic of!

Is that not the cutest idea for rules ever?!?!?!?

And the K classroom I was teaching in had this genius idea!
Stick sight words in baseball card page protectors and slide them in their take home folder. Love it!!!

I saw some pretty awesome Pumpkin Projects!

I love seeing KWL's for just about anything!!!

And, this book was just adorable to hear.  Make sure to check it out (especially for teaching bible class or at a Christian School).

Have a wonderful and safe Halloween and Weekend!!!

5 Tips to Keep Kinders busy!

Image

The first few weeks of school can be awful stressful...  But some of the best advice I can give you is to keep those Kinders busy!

Here are 5 tips to help you keep them busy:

Image
One of the first things I did each day after turning on my computer was to open my Movement Songs flipchart.  I wanted it to be open each day so I could have easy access to it if my little ones were getting fidgety.  I created a flip chart by hyper linking all the songs from you tube.  You can also do this in ppt.

If you don't have a smart board, keep a CD in your computer or have your iTunes open for easy access.

Do your kids use book boxes???

Teach them to quietly grab their book box and read silently when they finish their work early.  This will prevent them from distracting their neighbors at their desks.

Another option might be to pick an extra activity such as the listening center or silently re-tell the book of the week.  Our library would have some retelling puppets that I tried to grab.

Laminate (or stick in page protectors) a stack of alphabet pages.  Keep some dry erase markers handy.  If you finish a lesson early or have some extra time, pass out the markers and laminated pages for some handwriting and fine motor practice.

Make sure to create interactive anchor charts or flipcharts for your students.  We all know at this age, they can only sit for so long...

But- keep them engaged with charts and activities they can participate in!  They will be more likely to pay better attention to you and their peers if you give them the chance to be the teacher!

Do you have any tips to share on keeping kinders busy???
