The Ick launch party was incredible. A crowd of my favorite people laughing, drinking, reading, and scheming. I'm so grateful to be a part of scene. Y'all really showed up (photos by the amazing @drethelin)

Cardio training sucks, yes, but it's super important bc it makes each pump of your heart more efficient at moving oxygen rich blood to your muscles. If you don't want to be a sad, decrepit old guy who can barely walk, you gotta see this graph:

currently exploring first principles of how makeup works—optical illusion, contour, volume, color theory—it's so fascinating wow. For example: long eyelashes are effective bc of the Müller-Lyer illusion (objects appear larger w outward radiating lines)

See the Delboeuf illusion in action here: the douyen makeup style from China creates enlarged baby doll eyes. Drag makeup uses white negative space to make the eyes look exaggerated and expressive.

See how makeup artist Phyllis Cohen uses the same face but different masculine/feminine contours to create completely different face shapes. (See more here: instagram.com/p/DBRXNGctMpn/)

At its basic level, makeup works via biological signals. It amplifies markers of youth, fertility, symmetry & genetic fitness. Using principles of size/volume, makeup has powerful transformative affects (e.g. tiktoker voronina_valeria_ makes transformations her whole brand)

This measure of heart/oxygen efficiency is called VO2 max, and it's super protective in old age. A 75yo here is capable of briskly walking up stairs. Someone with a mid VO2 lost that ability when they were 45yo!!

Is "the ick" real? @etirabys did some investigating and found that women's icks fall into 3 main categories: 1. Raw fitness icks - manual dexterity, tool use (e.g. rolling dice off table, running into screen door) - cognitive inability (e.g. bad at spelling)
