- We haven't collected on defaulted student loans in over 5 years and the only thing that happened was people lived their lives safe from financial ruin. - Just a reminder that today, May 1, was supposed to be the day student loan payments turned back on. Until the government decided hey we'll be fine without your $ for another 3 months. They could just as easily decide they never need it, because they don't. They never did.
- No one paid their student loans for over 3 years and the sky didn't fall. Every single Democrat and labor union should be demanding full debt cancellation from the rooftops. We're not going back.Ever notice how forgiving loans is suddenly a big problem when students get much-needed relief, but nobody blinks an eye when billionaires get their PPP loans forgiven? Or when corporations are handed billions in subsidies?
- Around 40% of Americans with student debt didn't go to a 4 yr college. They are nurses aides, nail techs, truck drivers, auto mechanics, and folks who weren't able to finish school but still have the debt. We can't leave these folks behind.The Biden administration spent four years slow-walking student debt relief and eventually turning everyone's payments back on. The least they could do is cancel some debt on the way out the door.
