I caved to peer pressure and looked into this new epidemi-illogical study claiming that low-carbohydrate diets shorten lifespan. My conclusion is that reading it reduced both the length and quality of my life. Just a few quick thoughts:

Meat is the only whole food that contains every nutrient we need, in its proper form, without antinutrients—and it's incapable of causing unhealthy blood sugar spikes. Let's nourish our brains with the complete nutrition it needs to thrive. 🧠

As a psychiatrist, I became intensely curious about the relationship between food and brain health and began to wonder whether dietary changes might help some of my patients. 🤔 As a middle-aged woman, I became concerned that my strange new mostly-meat diet was going to kill

If your doctor wants you to take a statin medication because your LDL went up on a low-carb diet, print this paper, hand it to her, and ask her to read it. Thank you @LDLSkeptic @DrPaulMason @BenBikmanPhD for making the case crystal clear. journals.lww.com/co-endocrinolo…

Your brain is rich in cholesterol because it needs cholesterol to develop and function properly. So what do you think might happen to your mental health if you take a cholesterol-lowering statin medication? Watch the full video on @5MinuteBody to learn more about how what we eat

Trailblazing new study finds NO relationship between sky-high LDL cholesterol levels and coronary artery plaque buildup in people who had been following a ketogenic diet for 5 years —*and* who were otherwise metabolically healthy. Rigorous science in service of the public good.

Ketogenic diets aren't defined by how much meat or fat you eat—they're not even about how little carbohydrate you eat (in fact many who follow a "LCHF" plan are not in ketosis). A #ketogenicdiet is a diet that allows you to burn fat for energy. And who doesn't want to do that?

Is a #PlantBasedDiet the way forward for our species? My critique of the #EATLancet report is now up on @PsychToday. While I had some fun with the writing, this anti-scientific document is to be taken seriously. Yes 2 biology. No 2 mythology. #Yes2Meat psychologytoday.com/us/blog/diagno…
