This is what the growth of Princeton, TXโ€”the third fastest-growing city in the countryโ€”looks like. We are a nation that measures growth in endless cul-de-sacs.

Cities of the future will be human and fine-grained. People vote with their feet and wallets. Americans crave human scale at the street level and a well-defined (not sprawling) public realm. Critical ingredients: - Narrow, well-defined streets - Narrow, small lots We already

1/18 Introducing Frontier Valley: A new special regulation district in SV thatโ€™s larger than SoMa. Once approved, it will be America's epicenter for physical AI and deep tech innovation, and will also be a template for "robotics-first" cities that can be replicated nationwide.

Who cares about childcare? Cities make urban life hard for families in a lot of ways beyond restricting family-friendly housing types. This week, I look at how land use policies make childcare expensive, rare, and stressful. ryanpuzycki.com/p/who-cares-abโ€ฆ

Is anyone talking about how our new Mayor who plans to fix SF in part by listening well and engaging top talent isnโ€™t following anyone on here? Seems like a good way to completely miss a lot of signal about what SF needs. Also just off-putting (and I genuinely want to like him).

SFUSD parent here. Our schoolyard badly needs more shade. Our kids accumulate sun damage at school even through sunscreen โ€” which is a pain to have to apply every day! Parent Faculty Club purchased a shade weโ€™re not allowed to install, SFUSD will not install it for us, and SFUSD

Contrary to popular opinion, itโ€™s not just โ€œcheap goods from Chinaโ€ that led to the replacement of small family-owned retail shops by superstores in the US. In other countries, they *both* exist in healthy parallel: Superstores for big shopping visits and small family

So... at the risk of kicking a hornet's nest... YIMBYs just had a whole national conference. I counted 90+ YIMBYtown sessions, and at least per the agenda, not one touched on California Forever's effort to build a new walkable city for 400k people in California โ€” or new cities
