Galactose – Energy Source for the Brain
Simple Sugar with a Mild, Glucose-Like Sweetness
Galactose is a simple sugar found in milk and dairy products. Similar to glucose (grape sugar), the body can use galactose to produce energy. However, there is one key difference: for galactose to enter the cells, insulin – the blood sugar–regulating hormone – is not required. The brain in particular can efficiently utilize galactose.
