December photo 29

Image
B and I were sorting out the buttons. We got this box of beautiful buttons at Tuesday Morning. Quite a bargain!

December photo 28

Image B made this birdhouse for Poppa (my dad). Maybe the birds who make nests on the porch will choose this lovely little house instead!

October Photo 11

Image B was making a bowl from a balloon and a paper mache mixture. The balloon ended up deflating before she got done with the newspaper part---so it had to get scrapped!

October Photo 6

Image In my series of plates for the family, I now present a part of B's plate. I painted a cello on it, with the aid of a little carbon paper. I am very pleased with the strings---they came out better than I thought. All my plates have the same blue to tie them all together even though they have different themes.

October Photo 5

Image Here is what we made at our U Paint It party for B! The skull was J's, the gnome is B's. I made a square plate, Larry painted an elephant to add to his collection, and the store gave us the Birthday plate.

August Photo 26

Image We finally got to give Larry his plate on his birthday. J found the little Gig 'Em hand in the add-on section, and it truly was the perfect addition to the gift. Next up----B's plate!

August Photo 9

Image As an end-of-summer treat, we went to the U Paint It store and painted a project. B got a horse, J got a "Oscar" statue, and I did another salad plate. I can't show mine because it's in honor of Larry, and it's part of his birthday present. I was going to show him, but B was sure he shouldn't see it. Image

August Photo 1

Image J bought some of his own craft materials so he could make his own liger. (Tiger + lion, of course) Standard animal-making kits don't really include ligers, so he had to go get some of his own stuff. Both he and B worked with the hot glue gun and pompoms to make interesting creatures.

June Photo 17

ImageWe got out a big table and scrapbooked this weekend. I got the kids' school-days albums caught up. And for people who have known me a while, you'd be surprised ot know that I was working on 2006 pictures! I am now into the 2007 ones. I hope to catch them up this summer!

These are our creations from U Paint It. I'm really pleased with how my Mary Engelbreit-inspired bowl came out!

Day 353---Thursday

Image These are the Perler Bead ornaments that our Girl Scout troop made for Meals on Wheels for tray favors for Christmas. My own kids love perler beads, and are very creative without following a pattern. We got some new pegboards this year---candy cane, snowman, and Christmas tree.

Day 352----Wednesday

Image This is a picture from last week at B's Girl Scout meeting. I got this edible craft together for the troop, assembling the graham cracker houses ahead of time. Unfortunately, it is so humid here, the houses got SOFT! I baked them for a while and got them hard for the meeting. It worked great. I made the royal icing and put it in baggies for them, and got M&Ms, red hots, tiny candy canes and gumdrops for the girls to create with. It was a lot of fun.

Day 350---Monday

Image I am making granny squares while I watch TV these days. This is an afghan for me, sort of patterned after one my mom has. Color combos, anyway. I am trying to make all the combinations with purples right now. I did yellows already. I'm going to make one of each combination first, then probably make them all again to make enough to make a nice sized afghan. I like how the black makes the color pop!

Day 347---Friday

Image This is part of our staff party for my pre-school. We went to UPaint It, and you guessed it, I painted "it." I can't say what it is yet, but I took a picture for posterity. After this we went to one our houses and had an ornament exchange and some good laughs.

Day 336---Monday

ImageI made this scrunchy this evening. It's crocheted. Mostly it's a chain stitch and then you crochet the chains to a ponytail holder. Really easy! I'm now teaching myself to crochet. My goal is to do granny squares and eventually make an afghan.

Day 330---Tuesday

Image I thought this was an interesting shot. Those are B's hands with my little dish washcloths I made. It's a knitted pattern. I was giving them away this past weekend.

Day 325---Thursday, Thanksgiving

Image This is Larry's sis and B. B wanted to know how to crochet, so we asked if L' sis could teach both her and me. I think we got a good start. It's always easier if someone shows you rather than reading a book's instructions. We were at her house for Thanksgiving this year. It was a time of over eating and family fun. I didn't take a picture of our little cute (great) nephew!

Day 320---Saturday

Image I finished this little dishcloth today. I am making quite a few---to give as little gifts this season.

I got these festive knitting needles for free at a Girl Scout leaders' meeting. Someone was cleaning out their craft closet and gave them away.

Day 285---Saturday

Image I could have posted a bunch of different pictures for this day, but I plan on a post on the other blog about this. Sometime I'll get to it!

This metal guy was in a window of a shop in Fredericksberg. I just really liked him!

Day 210---Tuesday

Image
We worked up at my school again today. B made these littel figures today----me, Angel, and Zuzu (dogs). From clothespins and colored tape and sharpie marker. Great!
