Getting to Know Each Other! Skittles Style!

Image
I came across this linky party and I love it!  I could see myself doing something similar with my kiddos!  Latoya at Flying into First Grade is hosting a linky party to get us more acquainted... and the theme is Skittles!!! Here is the code for the linky: Red - Favorite Ice Cream Flavor Orange - Favorite Memory from College Yellow - Favorite Sports Team Green - Favorite Fast Food Place Purple - Wild Card(Tell anything about yourself) RED I absolutely love Cookie Dough, Cookies and Cream, and Vanilla... but I have a new ice cream downfall... fruit ice cream!  It's healthier and it works out way better for my lactose intolerance!  And of course... I found it on Pinterest!  Click the picture below to check it out! ORANGE This is a tough one... I have so many great memories from college!  My husband went to school up in Boston and even though we visit friends up there frequently, I miss being able to walk to everything... particularly in spring and summer! Product Swap! Super Cute School Themed Centers!

Image
I have been so excited about this for weeks, and it's finally here... the Magical Product Swap!!! I was paired up with the wonderful Vickie Plant from Mrs. Plant's Press! She has so many fabulous units in her store I had a hard time figuring out which one to pick!  Ultimately I settled on her Let's Go to School Centers! Okay, I can read your mind... "Really? Back to School Centers? In October"  YES!  Don't let the title of this product fool you... these centers are school themed so you can use them all year round!!! This set is a whopping 127 pages!  Obviously once it was printed I laminated it all! Next was the cutting part... and I have to make two points about this picture: Cutting out lamination is so much better when you wear pajamas! My couch's recliner is the perfect spot to put the stack of lamination while you cut it out!!! Obviously in the picture about you can see just how cute the centers are!  This set comes with 6 ELA centers... ...and 7 math...

Back to School Jitters Linky Party!

All of this talk about back to school and the big TPT sale has really got me thinking about going back... even though it will be weeks before I actually go back (the kids start September 10, but obviously I'll be back in before then!)  Anyway... I was thinking about the book First Day Jitters and all the crazy emotions we feel before then... and I decided to make a quick little linky for it! Here are all of my back to school emotions!  I tried to focus on the positives!!! Here is the picture so you can link up... but be sure to read the rules !!! I'm going to make this post short and sweet!  It's a new month, which means it's time for Farley 's currently! I've been working all day (literally all day!) on re-vamping my word wall, and I still have two Dolch lists to go.  It's amazing how much time we spend on making things just right for our classrooms!

Easy Classroom Management!

Image
I've been meaning to blog about classroom management for a while, but I just haven't gotten around to it!  This week I am determined to knock off a few ideas from my To Do list and post some fun items! Like many other teachers, I use a clip chart in my class.  I updated my clip chart and uploaded it to TPT for only $2.  And... it includes a parent letter to explain the chart to parents.  Check it out by clicking the picture below. I won't go into too many details on the chart above, but I do want to take some time to talk about one of my FAVORITE classroom routines... the most points! This is one of my favorite routines because it’s really fast, and really easy! We all know how much kids love positive reinforcement and praise… it’s so easy to say “I love how so-and-so is sitting” And they just love getting little tangible items, like pencils and stickers. Now, what if we combine these two ideas, and each time you praised them get got something that was tangibl...

Favorite Phonics Songs

Image
I have to say, my students just LOVE the phonics songs that are available on YouTube!  This year, I incorporated these songs into my daily teaching of sight words, and it has made a major difference!  Each time I introduce a new word, we watch the movie for the phonics songs that goes along with it and spend time seeing how the song applies to the word.  The students not only remember their current sight words better, but also use these rules to decode new words.  It's truly amazing every time I see one of my Kindergarten students sounding out words with super e, ee, ou, oo, ow, and aw!    It makes me so proud! Click the picture below to see my favorite phonics songs in a "Glog."   The phonics songs are all embedded into the page, so it's perfect for use in your classroom or for linking onto your class website! I'm linking this glog full of YouTube music videos up with Miss Nelson, Teaching Maddeness, Teaching with Z and Manic Monday!  ...

Summer Bucket List

Image
My summer doesn't start for two more months... but that doesn't mean it's too early to join up on the summer bucket list party! Two summers ago, I spent all summer doing house projects.  Last year, I had big plans to get more projects done around here, but after the wedding/honeymoon I didn't quite have the motivation!  This year, I'm going to focus on getting a lot of house projects done! First, let me talk about the teacher-type projects: Blog To Do List #1 Post 1-2 freebies every week on my blog! Blog To Do List #2 Have lots more giveaways! Right now I'm having my 200 follower giveaway (through May 20, 2012).  I'm going to definitely have one each time I reach another 100 follower milestone!   Blog To Do List #3 Re-design my word wall so it goes along with my Cat in the Hat Classroom Theme! Teacher Project #1: Clear the Bookshelf! I have way too many workbooks that I NEVER use! I grabbed a bunch of them at the dollar store, and I had subscribed to the...
