Tivo Talk-Fall 2010 Premier Week!!

It sure is that time of year again! The leaves are turning beautiful shades of orange, the kids are back in school (not my kid but you know what I mean), bonfires with smores are going on somewhere around here, and, you guessed it-FALL PREMIER WEEK has arrived! So get excited, and get those TIVO's and DVR's ready because this season is sure to entertain us all!!

What's New:

NBC
Monday at 10pm EST Chase. Featuring the handsome Jesse Matclaf who we all remember as Jon Rowland, the frisky lawn boy from Desperate Housewives.

Thursday at 9:30pm EST Outsourced. I already heart NBC's The Office and Community which are both a play on sitcom meets reality TV and am thinking this will be along those same lines. Looking forward to laughing out loud.

Friday at 10pm EST Outlaw. Who doesn't love Jimmy Smitz? I mean hello?! But really the season premier of this was last week for some reason and we tuned in. So far so good. Think quirkier Law and Order with a main character trying to make positive changes within our system. We shall see how this goes...could be a great one!

The Apprentice really isn't new but has received a face lift. Celebrity Apprentice is the route that The Donald had gone the past few seasons and I was yawning. so I guess its a good thing for him that he has changed it up. The premier was this past week but you can catch it on Thursdays at 10pm. The previews have me intrigued because it appears he is taking peeps on that lost their jobs due to our current financial crisis. Could be very interesting...

ABC
The Whole Truth premiers Wednesday at 10pm EST. If you were a fan of ER get excited because this is bringing back Maura Tierney. I am not so sure if I will love this but am going to give it a try. Sounds like another spin off of a Law and Order but we shall see where they take us.

Shows I was excited to see return:

NBC
Parenthood, already premiered this week as well but can be seen on Tuesday nights at 1opm EST. And this just in via PEOPLE magazine...Lauren Graham and Peter Kraus (who play brother and sister on this show) are DATING! I know, so weird and yet so right.

CBS
Premiering NEXT week on Tuesday September 28th (but still WAY worth mentioning) is The Good Wife. I think this actually may be my *FAV* Drama of the year. It was a great first season last year and it seems like they have a great plot coming at us this year! YAY for a good drama. :)

Image

ABC
Premiering Wednesday at 9:30pm EST Cougartown is BACK! This is one I wasn't so sure of last season but it did just continue to keep me laughing and coming back for more so I am a in now. I still don't like Courtney Cox's son...he creeps me out but everyone else is hilarious!

As if there was any question this was going to return, but still it was a new show last year...Modern Family is BACK and premiers this Wednesday at 9pm EST. Cam and Phil, I have missed you and can't wait until Wednesday to see your shiny faces!

Image

Image

Oldies but goodies:

CBS
Survivor: Nicaragua. This premiered last week so if you missed know you haven't missed much. Its on Wednesday's at 9pm EST now and I am not sure how I feel about that but am excited it is still going strong. Amazing that they can still think of new challenges after all these seasons.

Monday September 20 at 8pm EST, How I Met Your Mother. I am SO glad we are getting into a new season because P-Daddy has just about burned me out with the Lifetime re-runs of this show. He is officially obsessed with Barney and all of his antics and I am convinced he could watch this show 24-7 over and over and still giggle out loud.

ABC
Desperate Housewives, premiers Sunday the 26th at 9pm EST. The website says tonight at 9pm but my TIVO is showing "The Gates." So I think their site is wrong. But anywho...I am way excited about the return of the Housewives. I can't get enough actually.

Image

Private Practice, premiering Thursday at 10pm EST. Although I have ditched my beloved Grey's Anatomy as it just got to be too much I still heart this show. Addison and the gang still keep me excited to come back week after week. I really hope Addison gets herself some Taye Diggs this season. :)

Shows that are set to tape on my TIVO but I am about to breakup with:

ABC
Brother's and Sisters, premiers Sunday September 26. This USED to be on my favorites list but I am telling you it went a little too far last season and I don't know how they are going to come back from it. So my story is I am going to go ahead and watch the first episode and see how it goes.

TIVO TALK

A few things before I begin...
I agree that it is absolutely ridiculous that I haven't posted anything of substance since my New Years post.
I am having serious writers block when it comes to the recap of Lake Tahoe Christmas Vacation but promise its a blog in the backlog
I would be remiss if I didn't plug Shallow Thoughts here because she is not only a rock star in my eyes because she read a book a DAY in '09 AND blogged about that book EVERYDAY but now she has continued her blog but has added her thoughts on television. LOVE IT...and we are getting ready to talk about my Tivo, so this plug works!

Now onto the good stuff...

Notable items on my TIVO (and listed in order of importance...of course!):
How I Met Your Mother (Can you tell this one is still winning in my book?)
Modern Family
Desperate Housewives
Project Runway
The Good Wife
60 Minutes
Cougar Town
Shark Tank
Iron Chef America
American Idol

Its hard to believe that American Idol has fallen as low as it has...but its true. I would skip AI to view any of the other shows above it, any day! And you know why? I JUST don't think they are ever going to find another Carrie Underwood. Nope. Don't think they can do it. But THIS guy...well he is brilliant...

If you aren't watching Modern Family you are seriously missing out. And here is a PERFECT example:

The Good Wife was one I wasn't so sure about when it first started but now P-Daddy and I find ourselves glued to the TV when its on. Its nice because there is a different story line every week but on the back side there is an on going story line. And its based in Chicago...which I think I already mentioned in the last Tivo Talk...but apparently I find it that appealing. Just sick of every show being based in NYC.

60 Minutes, if you aren't already aware is (in our humble opinoin) one of the best news shows on television. I really don't watch a lot of news nor do I read a lot of news online or in print. I don't need a daily dose of depressing stories and lets be honest, the news thrives on it. But every Sunday I am sucked into every story on this amazing news show. Whether they are talking about elephants, the 2009 campaign, or the United States border patrol I am way into it! You can't beat Andy Rooney's take on life at the end either:

Watch CBS News Videos Online

Shark Tank, if you don't know is a show where 5 unique investors (including but not limited to the guy who owns FUBU) sit on a panel and people bring their products to them. In bringing their products they are also asking for a certain dollar amount in exchange of giving up a portion of their company. Its sort of like a lame show that was on television a few summers back that was called "American Inventors" (that I am sad to say we watched), but because it involves investors its a bit different. All of the investors have HUGE ego's which makes the show (of course) that much more interesting...and lets be honest some people and their "inventions" are for sure TV worthy. This was my favorite company...and the video doesn't explain it but these guys invented a website where college students can upload (and sell) their notes from a class (within their College/University), the notes are proofed to make sure they are "worthy" and then other students can go and purchase those notes. Why didn't I think of this??

What is my TIVO missing?
LIFE, we Loved this show and frankly I am pissed that I will never know what happened.
Friday Night Lights, although I hear that this one will be returning this summer I was ready for it to come back now!
Alias...I know, I know this show as done years ago...but I still miss it

What my TIVO is adding?
The Deep End, begins this Thursday 1/21...below is the preview

I would be kidding you and you and YOU if I didn't also mention JD's TIVO list (in order of importance of course) because most days I feel like I watch more of whats on his TIVO list than whats on mine (within the half an hour he is allowed per day of course-HA!)
Handy Manny
Sesame Street
Imagination Movers (which used to creep me out because there are grown men in jumpsuits but now I know every song by heart...crap)
My Friends Tigger and Pooh

PS-If you were over my videos and didn't click on one of them, please appease me and go back and watch the Modern Family one...its worth your time I promise!!

Life and TV in Review...

WARNING: this blog is going to be all over the place!

So this past weekend Uncle Badgeman and R got hitched!! I really should say "married" though because it was a beautiful wedding and the word hitched kind of makes it sound like they got married in a courthouse. Which I am not judging at all, but this couple did not go that route so I should respect that. "R" by the way has officially been renamed to "Aunt Ricky" just tellin ya for future reference. All of the pictures showcased on this here blog is from their wedding...enjoy!

Image

Bride and Groom....awwww!

We are so thrilled for Aunt Ricky and Uncle Badgeman, which needs to be mentioned. They are so cute and so in love! I have always loved weddings because the happy couples involved are so giddy about their new life together. Its a beginning and a different beginning for everyone, but its happy every time. Who can't love that? My favorite line from every wedding is from a bible verse (I am not sure which one, so please excuse me) but it goes something like "what God has put together, let no man tear apart." Gives me chills every time. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Feels like God is right there with everyone putting the couple together, making them ONE. I love it.

Image

JD was the ring bearer, can it get any cuter than this toddler in a tux?

I wish Aunt Ricky and Uncle Badgeman the best life has to offer...oh and if you want to see the video I made for their rehearsal dinner, CLICK HERE. :)

Image

**************

I haven't done a TIVO TALK this season. I know I'm being a slacker. Gonna do this flyby style...

Image

Uncle VP and JD (Uncle VP is the lucky one, he is the only family member that got a photo opp with our little one. OOPS!)

Overall, I am pretty excited that it seems the sitcom is making a comeback. I do love my drama's but honestly I have had to drop a few of them due to their over-dramaticness! And lets be honest sitcoms=funny (most of the time) and its way more fun to laugh than it is to cry!

New Shows:

Modern Family (ABC)-Pretty freaking hilarious overall. I think this one could stick. I love the Claire's husband Phil. Its not slap stick funny, but cute enough.

Image

How cute is Uncle VP's girlfriend?

Cougar Town (ABC)-I know you were probably thinking everything I was about this show. But honestly, this IS slap stick funny! I laugh out loud almost every week! And if you are one of those that judged the book by its cover, you are missing out. Last week, for example Courtney Cox's character found the sex tape her and her ex hubby made when they were 19 and her and her girlfriends drank wine and watched the PG parts and laughed! Lets be honest, Courtney Cox is just funny.

Image

The Good Wife (CBS)-This one IS a Drama but I kind of like where they have taken it. The show starts out with a cheating husband who happens to be the state's attorney. He was caught with hookers, steps down and is in prison currently. I like that they have made the wife's character strong, smart and pretty darn "real." I like that its not all about the cheating husband, which I originally thought it was going to be. I like that its kind of like watching an on going movie once a week. This one may not last but I am going to enjoy it while it does.

Image

The First (and ONLY) Wives Club :)

Community-All I have to say about this one is I am giving it ONE more week. Chevy Chase is disappointing!

Image

Hi my name is P-Daddy and I look JUST like my real Daddy! Scary huh?!

Oldies But Goodies:

Grey's Anatomy-Still a favorite but its moving on down the list. I think this merger might just be what saves them because last week's episode somewhat resembled (to me at least) the earlier days of Grey's WHERE I ACTUALLY LAUGHED!

Image

Private Practice-I really wasn't and maybe never will be over the fact that some crazy lady cut Violet's baby out of her and they left us ALL SUMMER waiting to know what happened. Cruel. Anyway, I am not really on board with Violet's decision to give up the baby but they are staying true to her character by what they have done here which I do like. Overall, this is one of my VERY favorite shows. I do cry and don't laugh, but this is a drama worth watching in my book.

Image

The Office (NBC)-we are serious Office followers in this house. But I have to be honest that before this season started I was kind of getting tired of the same old story line week after week. Dear Office writers, YOU TOTALLY REDEEMED YOURSELF with Pam and Jim's wedding. Thank you for that...I still watch it once a week because it makes me THAT HAPPY and its THAT FUNNY! You are back on the "A" list.

Image

Brother's and Sisters (ABC)-Kitty (Calista Flockhart) has cancer, and I love Kitty and I love Nora (Sally Field) and every time Nora crys about anything I am right there with her. This show is UBBER dramatic but I love it. I want to be a part of this dysfunctional family and every Sunday I feel like I sort of am. And really, isn't that what TV is supposed to do for us? Take us out of our own reality and plop us right into a fake one?! Its what I am going with anyway. I heart this show.

Image

Reality Division:

The only one noteworthy (in my opinion) is Project Runway. This show is bar none the BEST reality TV can get. Pure talent, I tell ya! Whoever thought of this was brilliant cause we women are typically the target audience and we women sure do like our clothes. Oh and I heart Heidi Klum. In my next life I would like to have her face and body. Thank you very much.

Image

Best Show Overall (for now):

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (CBS)-Freaking awesome! Especially if you are in my age group (25-34, yes I gave you a range, deal with it). If you haven't started by now, you need to watch it! Your TIVO can catch you up because Lifetime is now showing at least two re-runs every Monday evening. Its amazing. The end.

Back soon...won't go as long this time-promise!

TiVo Talk Volume 6, Season Finale Recap {27}

After last nights Jon and Kate + 8 episode I thought it would only be appropriate to do a little TiVo talking today! I will get back to the train wrecks a little later. First we need to cover the amazing season finale's that have happened.

Lets get right to it...

Lets talk about the first annual Network TiVo Talk award...I didn't really plan on doing this but it needs to be done I think. Why? Because this Network rocked it out this season with some seriously good season finalies (and in general). So...without further ado...the first annual Network winner of TiVo Talk is...

You go ABC, you go.

Grey's Anatomy-I start with this because they were REALLY about to lose me this season. I just didn't think that this show could go anywhere else...and then the writers started to show BACK UP to work (apparently) because this show ended AMAZING. By amazing I mean, I am still on the edge of my seat because I don't know...is Izzy dead, is George gone? Rumor on the PEOPLE streets is that they both are finito but I don't know...their reps aren't commenting (yes I did just say that as if I am the one who spoke to their reps). The last two episodes of this show were UNBELEIVABLE. I was moved to straight up SOBS for Izzy's wedding. Speaking of...I seriously need to go to the dermatologist.

Desperate Housewives-Let me just say that I am so glad that MJ is okay. That was an evil scene with making Susan potentially watch her son's death. I was freaking out, not gonna lie. But seeing little MJ on the side of the street, I breathed again. I don't think that Dave is gone forever though. That whole thing will be interesting. Here is my overall deal with DH though...it is TOTALLY an evening soap opera. I have to keep this in mind while watching because sometimes I find myself getting all wrapped up in the plots and then I remember that this show strongly resembles one of the soaps I used to watch (The Young and the Restless to be exact). Everyone ends up marrying everyone else's husband and they all have kids together, and people die or you think they do and then they come back and you totally believe all of this and still watch even though it is totally ridiculous and would never happen in real life. But real life right now kind of sucks for most people so this kind of show is perfect.

Brothers and Sisters-I went directly to Itunes after the season finale and downloaded Bryan Adam's version of "Wonderwall." I am a music freaking fanatic and that song really got me so it had to be purchased. Although this was definitely worth mentioning to all of you because I believe that everyone should also own this song...this was not the most memorable moment in the finale. I think they are trying to write of Rob Lowe, which is fine by me. But its almost like they are teetering on the idea because they made him this huge jerk who became the worst husband/father ever (lying, passive-aggressive, etc) and now he is the one fighting for the marriage. Interesting. This whole show fascinates me really. I think big families are so neat...but don't really think I could have one considering I really am struggling getting pregnant ONE.MORE.TIME so I live vicariously through theirs every Sunday. I also really enjoy southern California (which I think I mentioned this before), and my family HAS a family business so this is also interesting to me how all of that plays out. In general this may be my favorite show on television right now.

Private Practice-I still have nightmares about this season finale. Seriously. The worst part was that I didn't realize it WAS the season finale and there I was, laying in bed, P-Daddy was asleep, freaking out at the crazy lady about to slice Violet's belly open and then they LEAVE ME LIKE THAT?! Needless to say, I pressed the "info" button to read the description and thats when I notice it was THE SEASON FINALE and then I couldn't sleep at all that night because I seriously was nautious at the thought of someone doing that to me, knowing I would most likely bleed to death and my baby would be in the hands of a crazy person. I know, I know...its TV and all will be fine in the world...still though, they got me with that one!

Saturday Night Live-They REALLY stepped up their game this season. I mostly feel this way because of the digital shorts. Please enjoy my personal favorite that did not happen on the season finale but on the show before...I heart JT, we know this so this video shouldn't be surprising to any of you. PS-its uncensored so "earmuffs" for the kids might be good idea. :)

American Idol-so glad Kris won. Lets be honest, he will sell way more records than Adam ever would have. I also lived in a fantasy world with some of you (Adam fans) a few years ago when Taylor Hicks won. I so was on board with him and I was DEAD WRONG. He isn't very good and no one buys his records. The fog will lift for you Adam fans too when you realize that at best he will end up on broadway. This show is good, don't get me wrong but it may be on its way out...I just don't know if I can take it anymore. On a side note, I SOOO watched the interview with Paula Abdul where she COMPLETELY denied ever TAKING pain killers, addictive drugs or EVER getting drunk for that matter. I felt for the woman...until like two weeks later when she revealed in Woman's Day (or something like that) that in fact she was addicting to prescription pain medication until this past November when she went to REHAB. Celebrities kill me, they really do.

The Office-the season finale was good but this show is starting to physically make me feel uncomfortable.

Those are really the only noteable season finales. I enjoyed this season though and am not looking forward to a summer without any good TiVoing. I say that and then there are a few shows that may end up being worthy...

I wanted to mention a few of the members that became a part of the Rhyme and Reason television graveyard. We just couldn't handle all of this TV load (ha!) and some of these shows just fell off our priority list!

RIP
Chuck-it got really hokey, a big thumbs down!

Boston Legal-sad that it was cancelled, we would still be watching this show as it was brilliant!

The Biggest Loser-although we did tune into the finale (because it is so neat to see all of those amazingly healthy and SKINNY people) we no longer watch regularly. I do give this show a THUMBS UP because of its impact on obese American's, but I can't watch anymore.

Lipstick Jungle-another cancelled that I would still be watching...I am definitely a member of the "bring back Lipstick Jungle" group on FB-HA!

Kath and Kim-it just wasn't funny

On a side note...did anyone else see the Oprah with Dane Cook? He is HILARIOUS but his impersonation of her is priceless. See below (the video isn't the best and the girls laughing is kind of annoying, but what he says is priceless)...

One of the shows that the TiVo is set and ready to go for the summer is Jon and Kate + 8. We tuned in last night to see what all the hype was about and it was soo worth it. Although I have to say that I had trouble falling asleep because their distaste for each other really did bother me. I could say a whole lot about what went on but there are really two morals to what I believe their story is:

1. Money has gotten the best of them. Wonder where they would be had they NOT become TLC's hit show? Bet you it would be suburban bliss of sorts.

2. They are so kidding themselves when they say "we are just focused on the kids and making sure they are okay." Ummm the kids would be PERFECT if mommy and daddy got their heads out of their asses and start focusing on their marriage! Note to the Gosselin's: Your kids will never be the same after your divorce.

See you next Fall for TiVo Talk 2009's Fall Season Lineup!! Here's to hoping summer TV doesn't stink! :)

Wordy Wednesday

I haven't rambled in a while and thought today, on this dreary rainy Wednesday, I would. :)

Image

Fun times in February! Outside and playing at the playground with mommy (PS-excuse my bad hair day and paleness...i wasn't expecting a spring type photo shoot in mid February!) :)

First off, The Grammys. Amazing. I love all of the artists getting together and singing remixes of each other's songs.

Coldplay. Coldplay. Coldplay. I HEART THEM! I have hearted them for years but they just keep getting better. And then I saw Chris Martin (lead singer) on 60 minutes Sunday night and I fell in love even more. It helps that I heart his wife too (Gweneth...yes we are on a first name basis...I think she may mention me as her Best Friend Forever on Oprah today...ha!)

Carrie Underwood. I used to tear up every time I saw her sing because I just think she is fabulous and SO GOOD! Now I just smile and stare in aww of how good she is! She, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, even Clay Aiken make me believe American Idol really is worth watching (although it is becoming more dramatically painful to sit through).

Justin (we are on a first name basis too...and don't pretend like you don't know who I am talking about). I have to admit that I went to TWO NSYNC concerts while in college. And they both ROCKED! I would do it again for sure. I have yet to see solo artist Justin in concert but it is on my list because he is so dreamy (can I get an AMEN from the ladies out there).

Neil Diamond, a Great American music icon...so glad he showed up and sang for us! Loved it!

That sums up my favorites BUT don't get me wrong...the Grammy's were amazing in every way!

Sad about Chris Brown...I like him.

Ohh...and by the way "Swagger Like Us" (I told you I heart rap)

*****

I haven't been sleeping well lately and it is driving me crazy. I have no problem falling asleep but I wake up about a million times in the night and can't seem to REALLY fall back asleep. Annoying. I am still a ball of energy through the day though which is weird to me because I am normally a girl that needs her slumber. I took Tylenol PM so often towards the end of pregnancy (don't judge the doc said it was safe) that I think I am immune. I took some the other night in the middle of the night because I could not fall back asleep and it made me even more awake than I already was. Sweet.

Maybe I can't sleep because of this :)

I am the girl that can't turn off her brain...but also the one that ends up dreaming weird as heck dreams because of it. The brain activity doesn't normally keep me up. Just a phase I guess (and hope) because being awake in the middle of the night STINKS! I am scared of the dark people and I watch WAY too much 48 Hours Mystery so I get scared.

*****

I never talk about Target but I feel as though I should because it is one of my favorite places. I love the actual place (Super Target though not the "Great Value" variety...cause its NOT the same).

Image

Lets drive this somewhere mom!

Did you know that Target has some of the shortest stocked shelves of all of the "super stores" because they completely cater to women and we ladies aren't normally all that tall. I think that is brilliant. They also only sell 12 packs of pop because it is easier for women to pick them up and we end up purchasing more because of it. I am sure there is more but all of that is so simple yet so great and is probably part of the reason I love to go there.

Don't you just love their commercials too..."ba ba ba ba...this is a brand new day"...just a happy song for a happy store!

Its such a happy place. You should go...especially on a day like today when its rainy and dreary and you need a bright and happy and red place! :)

Image

Okay...we can drive this to Target...if you insist!

Image

But I think we need to get gas first...or do I have gas? Which is it?

*****

I never talk about working out either because I don't find it necessary to do so. Today I will only because I have REALLY been enjoying it lately. Its not that I don't enjoy it normally, but I have REALLY been enjoying it. Which is weird because of the sleep thing.

I used to be a workout-a-holic towards the end of high school and beginning of college. And then I loathed it for many reasons (another day, another blog). Now I really appreciate it in my life again! I'm normally either an all or nothing kind of gal and with this I am trying to find a balance so that it will always be a part of my life. :)

Image

Hey Brody...you are a baby too but smaller...want to play?

P-Daddy and I have had personal trainers since October and we both have really enjoyed it. They have taught us so much about the right thing to do while spending time at the gym and how to maximize our time. I don't want to give mine up...but I won't have to for a while because we signed up for a year! :) But...the reason I bring them up is that today I just found out that my PT was a professional football player! He failed to mention that to me so we will be having words next week. :)

Image

Too many cameras...can't focus...but Brody smiled for the picture! So cute!

I started doing classes at the gym last week and this week which may have something to do with it. Classes are better than the treadmill. Spinning though...I don't know somedays I would take the treadmill over spinning. I do feel so blessed to have the opportunity to go the gym, give JD a little face time with some children his age, and stay healthy because of it!

Image

You can clap your hands? ME TOO! Lets clap together!!

While we are on working out/weight loss (because as women don't they go hand in hand?)...I was forwarded THIS BLOG last night from a friend. If you are a mom of any kind read THIS POST. I think she sums this subject up well (and completely describes how I feel and have felt post baby at times).

Image

Lets talk Brody...I think we should figure out a way to stay babies forever. Our mommies take such good care of us...its just too good to be true! :)

*****

P-Daddy and I are going out with friends on Friday night. By going out I mean a whole group of friends from college and us are getting together at a Butler Basketball Game (Go DAWGS!), then heading out to our old stomping grounds called Broadripple to enjoy some adult beverages.

UncleBadgeman and R are babysitting...and by babysitting I mean the kind where they come over and spend the night so we have no time limit to get home! We've never done this since JD was born so we are excited (and therefore will probably have one too many of those adult beverages and will probably have to bribe our favorite babysitters to stay for a bit on Saturday while we lay around moaning about the bright lights). :)

*****

Last but CERTAINLY not least....(drumroll please.....)

I want to send a BIG HEARTFELT CONGRATS ON THEIR ENGAGEMENT TO....

UNCLE BADGEMAN AND R

Image

YEY for them and YEY for getting my very own Sister (even if she only technically of the "in law" version...still closer to a sister than I have ever been!)

Happy Wordy Wednesday Everyone!

Date Night, Babysitter Bliss, and a bit of Tivo Talk...yes its a long one!

First off, thank you to all who participated in the "Honest Scrap" award/game of tag! It was fun to read everyone's Honest 10 and learn things about those of you I only know through blogging (and some old friends too!)! :)

ow onto the official long blog! P-Daddy and I got the best gift for Christmas this year from Uncle Badgeman and R. They gave us a gift card to a movie theater, to Cheesecake Factory and (the best one of all) a night of babysitting! So we had a free weekend (and so did they) and so off we went!

Image

Image

/>

P-Daddy and I went to see "Gran Torino." It was amazing and if you get a chance to see this flick I would! We wanted to see the movie first so we could go and really enjoy dinner, have some drinks, etc. Well...that didn't exactly go as planned as Cheesecake Factory (as we should have known) had a 70 minute wait! So...since we kind of had our heart set on eating there, we got some serious take out and brought it back to enjoy dinner with Uncle Badgeman and R.

Image
/>

It worked out wonderful because it also gave us an opportunity to socialize with our favorite babysitting couple! They had a few fun stories to share with us, one of which involved a diaper incident that I won't share but needless to say Uncle Badgeman had never changed a diaper in his life and I think the fact that JD was his first wasn't a good thing! JD is a little (I am being polite...its actually A LOT) ornery when it comes to diaper changing!

Image

Uncle Badgeman Gimme! I need to call mom or dad because my diaper needs changed and I am not sure you know how (or want) to do it!

Image

Hello? Is anyone there? We need backup in the diaper changing area pronto!

It sounded like they had fun (and based on the pictures I would say they did)...and so did we so it was an overall success! We can't wait to do it again soon and Uncle Badgeman and R seem to be excited to come back so we shall be scheduling another fun date in the near future!! We love you guys! Thank you again and again!

Image
/>

And (get ready for a gasp)...P-Daddy and I are going out AGAIN tonight with friends! We are even taking JD to Addy and Lilly's and using their babysitter, laying him down in a pack n play there and then getting him "up" and taking him home with us after dinner. HA! We shall see how this goes...but we've gotta live a little right and Mr. JD has become MUCH more adaptable in his old age (HA!) so we are thinking this will go fine. But please, if you will, go ahead and pray for us!

*******

And now my friends...it is time for a little Tivo Talk!

I just can't let a whole week pass by without discussing the rather controversial episode of Private Practice this week. It really disturbed me to the core (I even had to fast forward through some parts because I couldn't take it). For those of you who don't tune in, Private Practice is a show based on a Doctor's group that includes a Pediatrician, Psychiatrist, Fertility Specialist, an OBGYN, an Internist, and a Holistic Healer.

This week dealt with the MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) vaccination that is highly discussed to be linked with Autism. There is no legal or medical concrete evidence to link the MMR vaccination to Autism, however there is a growing amount of people that are beginning to believe that their child now suffers from the disease because of the MMR vaccination. Because we had a boy and Autism strikes males more than females, we obviously were concerned by this vaccination and discussed (in great detail) the side effects of this and every vaccination JD has had with his Pediatrician.

I am not writing this to get on my own high horse. I am really writing because what ended up happening on the show really upset me. I must admit though that after JD was born shows that deal with any child being fatally ill, dying, or being severely mistreated has been rethought in this household. For example, we used to LOVE Law and Order: SVU but now we can't even stand to have it on our television.

Okay...so what happened on the show? Well...a mother with three sons came in because her middle son (a kindergartner) wasn't feeling well. The oldest son suffers from Autism and so the mother of this child had decided NOT to have her two younger sons get the MMR vaccination. The mother was convinced that the MMR vaccination was directly linked to her oldest sons condition. Well, the kindergartner wasn't just sick...he had the Measles.

Well...after a lot of drama, he ended up dying from the Measles. It was ABSOLUTELY awful to watch (so therefore I can't really tell you what happened because I fast forwarded). Anyway...intriguing that the show touched on this controversial issue. I liked how it kind of touched on all aspects of what can happen too. No one ever talks about the fact that Measles (based on a news story I saw on NBC news last year) is becoming more and more prevalent because of the choices people are making NOT to get their children vaccinated. And with that choice can come another consequence. I, for one, had NO idea that Measles could be deadly (in this modern medicine day in age).

And for those of you wondering, yes we did get JD the (first round) of the MMR vaccination. To us, the benefits of any and all vaccinations out weigh the latter. Not judging you, but since you are reading and I am discussing this issue it really wouldn't be fair if I didn't share.

On a lighter note...FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS begins this Friday and we are so excited that it is back in our lives! "Dub" family (or any of our in town friends that may be interested, we just know that the Dub family shares our love for this show)...up for a premier night (yes I did just ask you to do something through the blog...I will call you too, don't be offended!)? :)

The Biggest Loser started AGAIN this week and as tired as we are of this show, we are also supporters. You can't NOT support the show that is changing people's lives for the better! These people are the largest ever and I for one can't wait for the finale to see the transformations! Because we all know that if it can be done, Jillian and Bob will make it happen!

I have also recently tuned into The City (spin off of The Hills which was a spin off of .... okay you get the point, they are into spin offs). Anyway...I heart Whitney so was way excited about this show...its not so much good right now. Still giving it a chance but the new "friends" are too snobby for their own good (not even "good character"/fun to watch snobby, just plain bad).

On a final note...does anyone know if this last episode of Lipstick Jungle was officially the LAST? It didn't say it was the last on the shows description but I did hear it was getting cancelled??

Tivo Talk Volume 3

So I have been a slacker in many blogging terms lately and that includes my talk of the beloved television shows. I thought it was time to update (considering the shows are all saying their holiday goodbye's and we are left high and dry with re-runs to watch for a few weeks). Not to worry though...for those who aren't big fans of my Tivo Talk blogs...I did include some updated JD pictures, it was necessary right? :)

Now lets get down to business:
Private Practice-I don't even think I have touched on this show and it is one of my favs this season for sure. Reason #1-its set in southern California, a place that is special to me and also has the most fantabulous weather in the country. Reason #2 I love to hate and hate to love Addison Shepherd. Reason #3-I love the storyline, its cheesy and predictable at times but I always find myself enveloped in the show each week (and hanging on the edge of my seat for next week!)

Image

Image

Mom, you gotta tell them that we do A LOT more than watch TV around here...like basketball! We love basketball!

The Hills-you knew this was coming...ARE.YOU.KIDDING.ME that Spencer and Heidi eloped? Nighmare! I mean lets put the show a side for one second and really think about this. Its sincerely offensive to what marriage means to most to see the two of them walk down the aisle. I do not know what he has on her but its gotta be something right? Can I get an AMEN sistas? I am still in awe of the lives these people lead. And Lauren's parents home? C'mon is it even real? If so, in my next life I would like to come back and live there please.

Image

I also help Daddy when he tightens the gate (even though I don't know why I do that because I LOVE to escape and a loose gate would make it easier for me to do so...but I LOVE to help Daddy!)

Dirty Sexy Money-Unfortunately this one is being cancelled (according to USA Today) and I am sad about it. As trashy as it is and completely unrealistic it is still entertaining as heck! Its always interesting to be able to see a glimpse into the lives of the rich and famous and I think the writers of this show were hitting the nail on the head with the random drama that goes along with having money. Some of it a stretch of course, but fun to watch!

Image

We also mow the carpet A LOT! I swear its hard work to keep up with "cleaning" the house around here!

Desperate Housewives-Okay so I have to admit that Lifetime now plays old episodes of DH during the day and I HATE daytime television so I have been re-watching a lot of the early episodes lately. They SUCK! I don't know how I ever started watching this show because they were so dumb it was RIDICULOUS! However, I think the show has turned a corner because I am officially addicted. Maybe its because they have developed the character's so well I feel like I know them?! (I know I am ridiculous). Also, on a side note they are constantly mentioning the Indianapolis Colts AND I noticed that in one of the older episodes someone was reading an "Indianapolis Monthly" magazine in one of the scenes?! Please tell me that Wysteria Lane is not supposed to be in Indiana??

Image

We go to the grocery store too...and I get to ride in a fun car!

The Starter Wife-I don't know if I mentioned this in the first Tivo Talk however it is a pretty cute show. Again set in California (but in LA) and it is an interesting story line. I didn't catch the first season (or I think it may have been a mini series on another network) but its about a woman who was married to a big film director who divorces her and she is "starting over." Except she is starting over in the heart of LA with her "old life" all around her because they had a daughter together and so there is the school, old friends etc. I heart Debra Messing who is the divorcee(which is why I started to watch the show in the first place) and I really do enjoy her character. If you haven't tuned in, its on USA and the season finale was this past Friday evening. If you are a USA watcher at all, you know that there will be plenty a Sunday's where there will be a "Starter Wife" marathon (just in case you want to tune in).

Image

We read LOTS of books too! I recently discovered that I love books so I make sure mommy and daddy read to me a lot!

Boston Legal-although the series finale was HOKEY, you will be missed!
Saturday Night Live-If you didn't catch this last week you missed out. Andy Samberg (sp?) is HILARIOUS is all I have to say!
That really covers it for now! Get excited for 2009 though as Friday Night Lights and Scrubs returns and The City starts on MTV! More shows to love! :)

Tivo Talk

Its time for a weekly update of "Tivo Talk" (yes I am a dork and have officially named my television critique)!

I have to start out with "The Hills" because this week was RIDONKULOUS with Spencer's smug you know what! Honestly I have never understood Spencer and Heidi and their nightmare relationship but its over the top now. Does anyone know...does he have an actual job? Also...what did he ACTUALLY say or spread around about LC? I know it was something about a sex tape with her ex but is that it? Regardless he is making me not like the show. And Heidi...don't get me started. Who gets so much "work" done when they are 21? She is officially addicted and its sad. (You wanna set your TIVO for this one now don't ya? I understand!)

Image

Mom...whats all this TV talk for? I am not so sure people care what you think about this stuff. I think they come to this blog to see me. You might lose readers if you keep this stuff up! You are forgetting to tell the people what WE do all day. Like have lunch with Godmom...

If you haven't tuned into "Raising the Bar" I would highly recommend. I am a huge Law and Order fan and thought this would be a cheesy knock off but it has turned out to be a refreshing law show that doesnt' focus so much on the crime as it does the court room and I think it might win out over my Law & Order (former) obsession! Who wouldn't love seeing Zach Morris come back? Actually that is the hardest part...he will always be Zach to me (and his character on the show needs a serious haircut), but I am slowly trying to get over Zach and acquainted with his new character!

Image

...We read the paper...

Another drama we are into is "Life." We started last season (which was the first season). It is one of those shows that you have to watch every episode to understand but very interesting. I enjoy that the main character is wierd in a "coping with life" sort of way. He was wrongly accused of killing his friends and sentenced to "life" in prison, except he didn't do it AND now he is out (rich because he sued for a wrongful conviction), back to being a LA cop, living with a man he served time with and trying to figure out "life" (pardon the pun).

Image

...and go to the park...
"Kath and Kim"? Big thumbs down. I am very dissapointed. I think the "season pass" is getting deleted. Sad because I love both "Kath" (Molly Shannon) and "Kim" (Selma Blair). The writers missed the mark on this one.

Image

...we love the park, show them more of the park mom...
We have also been watching a lot of "Saturday Night Live" because of the Thursday bonus episodes. I know everyone thinks this but Tina Fey really does a great job of acting like Sarah Palin. If you missed this Thursday and didn't TIVO this I am sorry because Will Ferrell came back as George W. Bush. I heart Will Ferrell.

Image

...and swinging, you know how much I love swinging at the park! Okay...you covered it all for now. Next time can we focus more of this blog on me? I am the most important thing in your and daddies life right? :)
"Dirty Sexy Money" is creeping up as one of my fav's. Its kind of like bringing the headlines from PEOPLE magazine to life. I equate the "Darling" family to the "Hilton" family. Its very unrealistic but very intriguing!
Is it sad that I am in week 2 of this and still haven't talked about all the shows I watch? Nahh...girls gotta have a hobby right? :)

Its time to set your TIVO's!

I decided, after reading a fellow blogger's site that it was probably time that my opinoinated self started to review the television shows I watch. Because like its like I said here (#82) so I may as well right?

So first I will give you the down low on my 2008 Fall TV schedule...here it goes (no judging please-and if you judge, judge silently! :)

Monday:
Chuck, Boston Legal, The Hills, Raising The Bar

Tuesday: The Biggest Loser

Wednesday: Lipstick Jungle, America's Next Top Model, Dirty Sexy Money, Private Practice, Project Runway

Thursday: Survivor, Kath & Kim (jury is still out on this one), The Office, Grey's Anatomy

Friday: The Starter Wife, Life

Saturday: 48 hours Mystery, Saturday Night Live

Sunday: The Amazing Race, Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters (my favorite)

I won't bother you with boring details from all of the above but there are some highlights I am going to touch on...

Image

Mom, this show isn't on your list! Can I watch it with you?

Lets start with Grey's...is anyone else dissapointed with this season thus far? Meredith and Derrik is a big fat yawn of a relationship and very predictable! I thought Ross and Rachel were bad and that was the 90's! The writers on this show need to step up their game or they might just lose me!

On the other hand Paul and I just started to watch Boston Legal this season and we are in love! Its HILARIOUS! I would highly reccommend if you like "guy" humor. You can pick this show up whenever...we did!

I have been a BIG fan of Brothers & Sisters from its pilot episode. I love that they are dealing with a soldier coming home from war. Its completely fictional but I have a feeling that the writers either know someone that has come home from this war, or one from the past. This show pulls at my heart strings on a weekly basis and makes me want to have a HUGE family. Even with the drama you can feel the love through the screen. So as you can probably already tell, this one is my FALL FAVORITE!

Image

JD and Lilly practicing WWF moves (I don't know where they got this since babies aren't allowed to watch TV AND we don't watch anything resembling wrestling)

My Guilty Pleasure is The Hills. Who doesn't heart Lauren Conrad? I watch in amazement every week at how these people actually got MTV to come to their high school (or how MTV just wanted to come to their high school) and make them famous...then flip to the spin off show of Lauren and her fabulous life. Driving Mercedes Benz at the ripe age of 18, living in LA, getting whatever freaking job you want because you are who you are. Its a far cry from Dvegas!

I getting to the point where I am OVER the Biggest Loser and Survivor. I mold these two together because I do not think that either of them will ever go away! Survivor has such a huge fan base that I really don't think it will ever go away unless they have made it to every piece of untouched land in the world. The Biggest Loser is such an unbelievable show that gives people such hope that I don't think its going anywhere either. I love the concept of Biggest Loser but just can't stomach the week to week banter anymore. I will be tuned in for the finale though. Those weight loss stories are unreal!

The Office, I shouldn't even have to comment on this one because everyone should already be watching this program every week (and the repeats that air on TBS). This show is fabulous! And on a side note, Target is now selling Office paraphanalia in their SEE.SPOT.SAVE section. Its only a dollar so it may be good for stocking stuffers for those who care!

Image

Why are you crying Lilly? I thought we were playing!? (says the boy who likes to slap other babies on the head to say "hello"...we are working on being gentle!)

The Season Finale of Project Runway is tonight. My TIVO screwed up last week so I didn't get to see Part 1 of this finale and read somewhere that it was Jerrell (sp?) that was kicked off. I am sad about this because he was my favorite and pick to win. Now I am voting for Cato (sp again?). She has a good vision and is a nice person (at least as far as reality tv goes).

Image

Where did Lilly go? Did I win with my baby wrestling moves?

Last but not least is Desperate Housewives...I thought this show would only last one season, if that! Now I am into this one more than Grey's! I never thought I would say those words! But its so bad its good and so far out there that I watch it purely for entertainment. I am not vested in the characters like I am with B&S. Lets be honest ladies, its a night time soap opera.

If you were into this post, comment. And please feel free to ad anything you feel like I forgot! I may make this a weekly thing if my readers are into it!

Happy Hump Day! Its a great night of TV, so set those TIVO's!
