Zoo Nouns
My student intern did a lesson on nouns using a book about the zoo since we will be going to the zoo next week. She read Out and About at The Zoo and found all the nouns. The kids illustrated the nouns they found and constructed a tree map of nouns at the zoo. The kids identified each illustration as a person, place or thing.

Pets!
We had a lot of fun this week learning about pets and their needs and wants this week. On Monday, we read I Have A Pet and created a tree map of pets needs and wants. On Tuesday we read The Perfect Pet and drew and wrote what our perfect pet's needs. On Wednesday, we typed sentences in word to make riddles about our pets and then illustrated them. On Thursday we drew and wrote about something we learned about Mrs. Wood's pet Bearded Dragon. On Friday, we read Pet Show and had a real pet show at school. The parents brought some of the student's pets and the students told us what kind of pet they had, their name and age, and what they do to help take care of it. After the pet show we drew and wrote about our favorite pet in the pet show.

Dr. Suess Hat Day!
We started our Dr. Seuss week this week. Today we had Hat day. We read The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins. To review and identify nouns, we made a tree map of people, places and things from the book. Then, I had the students illustrate one of the nouns from the story. I thought they did I great job and this activity kept their attention better since this is one of Dr. Seuss longer books.
For Math today we enjoyed reading One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish and using rainbow goldfish to sort count and add the colors together.
