OK. Finally I make a start on our adventures in Perth.
Beforehand I have to say: I expected internet-access in the cabin, but there wasn´t.
So instead I started "offline-blogging". Until the netbook´s battery died, that is.
So here comes:
07.11. - Wednesday we took the tram to the trainstation and – instead of sitting on the ground somewhere near the doors and changing trains at least once, mostly running cause ours is late (cause some train before that was late) – we sat first class and went straight to Frankfurt main train station. The weird thing: This even was cheaper!
Pic: Frankfurt.
In Frankfurt it was about 13 C, raining, the escalator didn´t work, so I had to carry our one suitcase (some whopping 27 kg). Whoa, my arm hurt for 2 days after that!
(Ingo can´t carry anything heavy anymore).
Thursday we took a taxi at 05:45 am to the airport, hence.
And were told we fly to Dubai that day and on to Perth a week later.
Ummmm – hello?!
That stupid travelling agency had changed the date for the first part of the flight only!
Be sure they hear from me, and it won´t be nice what I´ll tell them!
Luckily we were early, the staff was still in a good mood and helped us.
We went to Mc D aka Maccas after this „exciting“ moment for a Brekkie and the lady sitting next table started chatting with us.
Well, guess where she was just a few weeks ago? In a very beautiful city, as she said.
Ingo showed her his shirt and said, give in these data into your GPS and you get to the Lion once again :-)
Pic from June this year.
After this rather bad start of the day I had the feeling this „project“ is under a good star after all :-)
The flight to Dubai was great: we sat in the middle row and the seat beside me was: free!
Despite sadly not flying with QANTAS, cause they don´t fly Germany anymore we had Emirates.
Boy. When I remember my first flight – I was 14 – I had a book with me.
Later you had one screen per partition. Last time each had his own screen and you could choose if you wanted to watch „the“ movie or listen to music.
Now:
You want Info on the flight?
Or movies? Which ones, there are several categories!
Maybe you like to play something?
Or, certainly, music.
Or, well have your own laptop.
I watched on the whole flight Toy Story I, II and III, Monster I and II, Scott & Hootch and Star Strek, woah, last one was really great, despite I think the new Spock wasn´t well chosen. But that Leonard Nimoy had a short part, too, was just great!
So much happened in just seven years!
Guess you´ll read this sentence more often ;-)
Flight-info available by scanning your ticket:
It even gives a man or a woman showing you the way to your flight!
In Dubai we had to „kill“ about 3 hours and then took off to Perth, finally.
When finally, finally I was about falling to sleep the stupid guy sitting in front of me got bored and started a chat with the guy in the middle row.
Those two had obviously no clue why the plane was dark and nobody talked.
When Ingo asked them to be quiet, they said, oh, sorry! But, hey, I was awake again. No sleep for over 27 hours in the end.
You can guess I didn´t feel sorry the guy had to puke ;-)
Just the thought of seeing this place again kept me going:
Really, what´s with some people – no common sense at all?!
More to come :-) It was a fantastic holiday with the best people to meet, too!

I'm guessing three hours in Dubai was better than one week. Almost like the time I tried to enter Czech republic without a visa that my travel agent told me I didn't need and got kicked off the train for my trouble.
Oh-woah-ha, that´s even worse! What did you do for a rescue???
cool Iris :) sounds like you had an adventure just with the flying bit ... Lol xx
Oh, yes, Jo, I just hate flying in general and this was... ahhhh - but worth the efford! xx
Good neighbours when you fly can make all the difference! The other day when I flew back from Adelaide to Perth, it was a very early flight and I had to get up at 5am. So I thought I might get a little sleep during the 3,30h flight, but nnoooo, two guys in front of me chatted loudly the whole flight, so no sleep for me!
My worst flight was a midnight special from Bali to Melbourne. I was very sunburned and got to sit in the very back seat. That meant my seat didn't recline. But the seat in FRONT of me did, so that person was virtually in my lap the whole flight. I tried to watch the movie, but my headphones didn't work (this was a few years ago). And the flight was full so I couldn't shift. I still have nightmares about it! But hey!! You've been to Dubai? Cool!!
Sami, buhuu.
Red, oh, my, now that sounds like really plain awful! Even without sunburn!
Nah, we just saw the airport in Dubai. I wouldn´t want to visit there...
