Play the songs you love. Even if you’ve never touched an instrument.

A 90-minute live band experience in the heart of Camden

Image
Image

WeJam is a live music experience in Camden Town, London, where groups of up to 10 play real instruments together in a guided 90-minute session. No musical experience is needed — a colour-coded system on tablet screens shows each player which notes to play, so even complete beginners sound great from the first song.

Choose from over 75 classic pop and rock tracks including Mr. Brightside, Don’t Stop Me Now, and Smells Like Teen Spirit. Sessions are led by a professional musician, and every group receives recordings of their performance. Perfect for birthday parties, team building, hen dos, family days out, and date nights.

We had a really fantastic time! Our host (sorry I forgot his name) was great, he explained everything clearly and kept the energy up during the session. He was very tolerant of us swapping instruments a lot and nothing was too much trouble! You can get soft drinks, bottled water etc there. It was a lot of fun all round and you didn't really need to worry about knowing how to play an instrument as it's the perfect introduction! The only thing is if you are in a group with some who are more experienced reading music it's worth moving up the levels fairly quickly as it's more interesting/gets more fun when it's more difficult and you all have a laugh trying to keep up rather than sticking to just the easy levels! It's also all recorded for you to listen back to so you have a nice reminder of the evening and can show others after! Great for smaller or bigger groups, birthdays/hen/stag events as there's quite a few instruments and you can also swap in and some can sing too. I highly recommend booking and would go again too!!

A few small notes - it's worth knocking on the door loudly when you arrive or phone the number when you get there so they know you have arrived as they may be downstairs and not hear at first.
Also maybe come up with your band and stage name in advance too so you have time to think of something good!
My only small criticism is that whilst there is a bathroom there, an actual toilet seat would be appreciated by us ladies 😅
My friend was on crutches and there's 15 or so steep winding stairs with handrail to navigate. We helped her up/down and it was not a problem to sit with the instruments once you get there. But it wouldn't be wheelchair friendly due to the nature of the building.

We had a brilliant session with Linda…a family of 4 all with no musical experience but looking for something different and fun to do. We really enjoyed it and the time flew by, Linda was a great host, very patient and really informative as well as extremely fun! We will be sure to book again on our next visit.

This was such a lovely experience, our host made sure we felt welcome and helped us ease into the musical concept. It was such a unique experience and was really fun to play the various songs! Nice touch that the session songs are recorded.

We had a great time at WeJam! We had a group of 8 friends in the studio. The whole experience was incredibly fun both for the experienced musicians in the group and those who were complete beginners, as each person could tailor their instrument level to play along together. The session was well organised, and our session host did an amazing job of explaining everything, keeping the session running smoothly and making sure everyone was involved. This is a really unique experience that was full of laughs. We would highly recommend for anyone looking for something different and memorable to do with friends. Their customer services team are also extremely helpful if you need help sorting something out.

Great to find something a bit different for a birthday party.

Booked this for a 12 year old’s birthday party. Perfect choice for a small group.

Wejam is set in a recording studio in the basement of the very cool Camden Guitars.

Linda was our WeJam host who brought the right amount of energy for the group of kids who had various levels of music experience.

She navigated different music tastes and encouraged the kids to swap instruments to get full enjoyment from the session.

Ten songs were recorded by the kids in the 90min session. The kids were never bored, always interested and engaged thanks to Linda and the whole WeJam concept.

We had a group of five kids (with two adults observing the action from the large sofa).

It was such a fun experience. It made me feel like a rockstar rehearsing for my next gig. You can have fun at every level, from complete beginner playing along to playing a real guitar! Linda was super accommodating, patient, laughed at my jokes to make me feel special. It was a surprise from my partner and it delivered!

Such an awesome and fun experience! Went with a group of 4 friends and though most of us had little musical instrument experience, we still had a blast, mostly thanks to our host Linda’s passion, kindness and energy! She’s the best host one can ask for. Thanks a lot for having us and we will be back!

I had a great time here with my partner! Great host, equipment working well and great song choices. If you're looking for an activity to do with your partner in London that is unique (and doesn't feel like a tourist trap) this is the place to go.

Such a cool experience. Very accommodating to allow a toddler to be part of the experience with much patience and no pressure. We all had a lot of fun and Linda was such a great host. Guiding us throughout the experience so that we could play instruments and make music together. A very different immersive experience and highly recommended, which sits in a hidden basement underneath the coolest guitar shop.

Our son treated us for my husband’s birthday – and we had so much fun. We all love music but none of us can play instruments. However, it didn’t matter, and Josephine (our band leader) explained everything we needed to do. Would definitely recommend booking – such a unique fab experience.

We weren’t sure what to expect from our Jam session but we loved it. There were so many great songs to choose from and even those of us that can’t play or keep in time had the best time. An enormously fun way to get my pre teens out of the house! I’m coming back for sure.

Took my daughter and her friend to we jam for her birthday. Really good fun. David, our producer, was wonderful with the children, really putting them at ease and helping where they needed it. Neither of the kids in our group have much experience with playing musical instruments but with David's guidance they worked their way through many tracks and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thanks to the drummer in their band , provided by we jam, who stepped in when both girls wanted to use keyboards. A really unique experience. Loved the fact that you are also able to download their album as a keepsake afterwards. Absolute gem for a morning or afternoon of fun. Thank you David, we'll definitely be back and will be recommending to family and friends!

Had such a brilliant time for my mate's birthday. Had been looking for something quirky and fun to surprise him with, and this was everything I hoped for. We all love music but don't play any instruments, but this is like Guitar Hero with real instruments.
I loved belting out Britain's favourite track - Mr Brightside. That is until I checked my emails the next morning, as they send you your session recording.
Sarah was wonderful as our host. She joined in, brought energy and was just a perfect part of the experience.
Maybe we'll have another 'practice' session some time.

Had a friend visiting London and I was looking for something quirky and fun rather than the main stream tourist things. - he loves music I found this online - was great fun - we did with a small group of us - the guys in the studio were great - made us all feel comfortable - I don't think we can give up our day jobs yet - but do highly recommend this for something a little different.

We attended as a family group. One of the most fun things to do in London. David looked after us really well and soon realised we had a mixed level of ability. It really didn’t matter that most of us didn’t play instruments, the system allows for everyone to enjoy playing. It was a blast!

We visited WeJam for a team building event recently and had an absolute blast! We were a bit apprehensive at first as none of us have experience playing instruments but the set up made it easy for everyone to join in. It was great fun to (kind of) play songs we all know and love and even more fun to have a chuckle when things went south! Definitely recommend!

FAQs

Remember, WeJam is 100% suitable for beginners. Don't worry if you've never picked up an instrument before - we'll have you jamming in no time! We also cater to more experienced musicians - everybody in the group can play at their own level.

How does it work?

Each participant chooses their instrument and is assigned a tablet device. Beginners are shown colour coded graphics on screen, guiding them which notes to play. More experienced musicians can choose to see traditional notation or chord symbols instead.

To make things even easier for beginners, our talented team of songwriters have developed super simplified versions of your favourite tunes, meaning you'll only have to play one note at a time. Successfully playing these pared-down parts will unlock and trigger the more complicated original note combinations, meaning everyone can sound like a rockstar!

What's more, if you ever find it too easy, we can ramp up the difficulty level.

I’ve never played a musical instrument in my life, will I really be able to take part?

Yes! No matter your age or ability we’ll have you jamming along to your favourite songs in no time. Using a colour coded system, complete beginners can easily see which note they need to play, and when to play it. The facilitator in the room will also be on hand to help should you get stuck.

What's the minimum/maximum group size?

For studio bookings, between 2 and 10 people can take part. There are 6 instruments plus mics for singers, so in a band of 10 four of you sing at any one time and everyone swaps around during the session. You can select your band size at the time of booking. For groups of 11 or more we run private events and team sessions, and can accommodate much larger groups.

Can I add more people to my booking later?

Yes. You can add band members to an existing booking any time before your session, up to 10 people in total. Use the personal add-band-members link in your booking confirmation email and the extra players are added straight onto your booking. Can't find the email? Contact us and we'll resend it.

Can children take part? What's the minimum age?

Yes, children love it. We recommend 8+ for the full experience, but younger kids are welcome with a bit of help from a grown-up. For booking a group mostly of under-18s, check out our Families & Teens page.

How long is a session?

Standard sessions are 90 minutes. Longer sessions can also be arranged if you contact the team. Please make sure you arrive just before your session starts as although we will wait for latecomers, we can't, unfortunately, extend your slot beyond the time booked for.

Where do the jam sessions take place?

Jam sessions take place at our secret underground studio, situated beneath Camden Guitars in the heart of Camden Town. The full address is 23 Chalk Farm Road, London, NW1 8AG. For pop-up events we can travel almost anywhere.

If you still have questions, check out our FAQ page or contact us.
