FAQ

What actually is WeJam?

WeJam is a fully interactive group activity that takes place in a music studio. During a session you will be guided by your ‘record producer’ to learn and perform some classic songs as a band. Even though you will be using real musical instruments, no previous musical experience is necessary!

How does it work?

This is one of the most common questions we get asked at WeJam!

Each participant chooses their instrument and is assigned a tablet device. Beginners are shown colour coded graphics on screen, guiding them which notes to play. More experienced musicians can choose to see traditional notation or chord symbols instead.

To make things even easier for beginners, our talented team of songwriters have developed super simplified versions of your favourite tunes, meaning you’ll only have to play one note at a time. Successfully playing these pared-down parts will unlock and trigger the more complicated original note combinations, meaning everyone can sound like a rockstar!

What’s more, if you ever find it too easy, we can ramp up the difficulty level.

I’ve never played a musical instrument in my life, will I really be able to take part?

Yes! No matter your age or ability we’ll have you jamming along to your favourite songs in no time. Using a colour coded system, complete beginners can easily see which note they need to play, and when to play it. The facilitator in the room will also be on hand to help should you get stuck.

What's the minimum/maximum group size?

For studio bookings, between 2 and 10 people can take part. There are 6 instruments plus mics for singers, so in a band of 10 four of you sing at any one time and everyone swaps around during the session. You can select your band size at the time of booking. For groups of 11 or more we run private events and team sessions, and can accommodate much larger groups.

Can I add more people to my booking later?

Yes. You can add band members to an existing booking any time before your session, up to 10 people in total. Use the personal add-band-members link in your booking confirmation email and the extra players are added straight onto your booking. Can’t find the email? Contact us and we’ll resend it.

Can children take part? What's the minimum age?

Yes, children love it. We recommend 8+ for the full experience, but younger kids are welcome with a bit of help from a grown-up. For booking a group mostly of under-18s, check out our Families & Teens page.

How long is a session?

Standard sessions are 90 minutes. Longer sessions can also be arranged if you contact the team. Please make sure you arrive just before your session starts as although we will wait for latecomers, we can’t, unfortunately, extend your slot beyond the time booked for.

Can we play more than one instrument?

If it’s your first session we recommend picking one instrument and sticking with it for the entire session. However if you and your band members get the hang of it quickly, then it’s perfectly fine to swap halfway through.

How many songs will we perform?

Most people spend the session perfecting eight or nine songs, but it’s possible to try more than that if you’re on a roll.

What songs can I play?

We are growing our catalogue every day. We’ve got classics from the 60s, the latest chart hits, and everything in between. Check out our home page to see some of the most recent additions.

Where do the jam sessions take place?

Jam sessions take place at our secret underground studio, situated beneath Camden Guitars in the heart of Camden Town. The full address is 23 Chalk Farm Road, London, NW1 8AG. We can also set up pop-up events almost anywhere.

Can you cater for private events?

Yes, we regularly host special events and can set up at a venue of your choosing. There are some minimum requirements so please contact us to discuss. You can see more info here.

I’m an experienced musician, will I find it too easy?

Experienced musicians can play in ‘freestyle’ mode – i.e. we turn off the computer assistance and you can jam along independently. But most people find it fun and challenging to try an instrument they’re less familiar with instead!

What instruments can I play?

At the moment we offer the drums, keyboards/synths, and some very cool keytars which are used in place of guitars. Experienced guitarists and bass players are welcome to bring their own instrument along and plug in. We provide the cables, you can experiment with our digital effects, and simple chord symbols are shown on screen as you play.

Do we sing?

Singing is optional! For those that prefer not to sing we have high quality vocal backing tracks that you will play along to. This is a bit like the opposite of karaoke.

Is there an age limit?

This is truly for everyone. Kids are welcome but we recommend they are over the age of 8. We are very happy to host children’s parties, and for any group of under-18s at least one adult (18+) must be present in the studio. There is room for two or three adults to stay and watch.

How much does WeJam cost?

Standard sessions start at £39 per person. Gift cards are also available at
wejam.studio/gift-cards. Visit our booking page for current pricing
and availability.

Can I book WeJam for a birthday party?

Absolutely! WeJam is one of the most popular birthday party activities in Camden, for both kids and adults. The studio is private to your group, and every birthday session ends with a surprise punk rock version of Happy Birthday for the whole band to play together. You can pre-order drinks in advance to celebrate. Book at wejam.studio/book-now.

Can I book WeJam for team building?

Yes, WeJam is ideal for corporate team building. The experience
naturally encourages collaboration, communication, and fun — and
nobody needs to be musical. For larger teams we offer back-to-back
sessions or our Battle of Bands format. Visit wejam.studio/team-building
for more details or get in touch to discuss your requirements.

Can I bring drinks or food?

Drinks are all sorted from our side. Alcoholic drinks are pre-order only: order them in advance via the link in your booking confirmation email and they’ll be waiting when you arrive (your artist rider, sorted). Soft drinks are available to buy at the studio on the day. We can’t have food or cake in the studio, but there are plenty of cafes, restaurants, pubs and street food options in Camden Town within a short walk, so it works perfectly straight after your session.

How do I get to WeJam? What's the nearest tube station?

WeJam is at 23 Chalk Farm Road, London NW1 8AG, beneath Camden
Guitars. The nearest tube stations are Chalk Farm and Camden Town station (Northern line). There is no on-site parking but limited metered street parking is available nearby. On arrival, enter Camden Guitars and let the staff know you’re there for WeJam.

Do I get a recording of my session?

Yes! Every group receives recordings of their performance after the
session. You can listen back and share your tracks with friends and
family — a musical souvenir of the experience.

Does the price change based on group size?

No. Our standard price is £39 per person regardless of whether you book for 2 or 10 people. For groups of 11 or more, contact us and we can organise a pop-up event.

If we still haven’t answered your question, please contact us – we’ll be very happy to assist.
