Flooding & storm surge are often the greatest threats from tropical systems. Never drive or walk through floodwaters-6" of moving water can knock you down, 12" can carry away a vehicle. Monitor updates from @NHC_Atlantic & alerts from local officials in case you need to evacuate.

🛜 Connection is key. This week, CNMI officials, local partners, and @fema worked to set up a mobile tower trailer on Rota. The trailer, donated by @ITDRC, helped restore public internet access after the existing tower was toppled during Typhoon Bavi.

USACE, Honolulu District installed the first generator on the island of Rota in the CNMI in support of federal response efforts. The Office of Aging Center received the first generator as one of the critical facilities on the island following #Bavi.

This week we joined @RepKimKingHinds, Governor David Apatang & local officials on the island of Rota to assess damage from Typhoon #Bavi. The commonwealth is leading response while FEMA and fed partners coordinate support, including generator installs & transporting supplies.
