This to the power of ten. Tim Leunig is brilliant, original and *utterly devoted to a more just society based around opportunity*. The campaign against him just about sums up our reductive political debate that tries to trash good people for cheap headlines.

Emily Miles, currently director general for food, farming and biosecurity at DEFRA has been named chief exec of @CareQualityComm She has a HUGE job to turnaround the watchdog which has fallen to new lows in the last few years & lost the confidence of patients, public and NHS.

Up until the 1990s, the Daily Mirror had a policy of distributing free alcohol to journalists during working hours. Hacks were given a weekly ration depending on their seniority: the Sunday dep news ed got six bottles of red and six of white every single week.

Key Stage 2 results are in... Since we entered government, children’s reading, writing, spelling, punctuation, grammar, maths and science have all improved. School standards, attendance and behaviour are all on the up under Labour.
