Thank you for electing me, Eckington ANC 5F06! Pro safe streets, pro housing affordability, pro transparency. Tweets my own, not official or reflective of ANC.
A packed National Mall circulator bus crossed my path just now. This is the route that is being discontinued with no replacement service at all.
Any discussions happening, @wmata@DDOTDC@NatlParkService@smithsonian ?
Metro regulator approves increasing speeds on the Red Line.
Much of the Red Line outside downtown is built for 65-75 mph operation. But WMATA limited speed to 59 mph since 1986.
With computer guidance and automatic door operation, this could cut 7 minutes off Red line runs.
Our home zip code 20002 has built more new apartments in the last five years than any other zip code *in the country* !
Eckington, NoMa, and northeast Washington are doing our part (and then some!) to help ease the DC region's housing crisis. The rest of the city should be too.
If my husband misses one deadline from one DC agency, his business license is jeopardized since he can't get a 'clean hands' certificate.
But reckless drivers can rack up dozens of tickets in DC and face no consequences.
Take away *their* license! Tow them! Attach their wages!
@DCCarViolence@DCDPW@DC_OCA@DDOTDC This driver has $13K in outstanding citations. She ran the red @ 10th & Taylor St NE this AM (need ATE here please!), then used her car to threaten families biking to Mundo Verde in Ward 5. Can we get real SRTS? #weknowwhothebaddriversare
Reckless out-of-state driver who has "gotten a few tickets a few times a week for 7 years" - now $200,000 worth - gets his car impounded thanks to stepped up enforcement by @DCAttorneyGen@DCPoliceDept@CMCharlesAllen
I'm glad to report finally the Bryant Street Pedestrian Bridge used by thousands of Eckington & Edgewood residents to reach Rhode Island Ave Metro Station is now clear of hazardous snow and ice so people can use it safely.
I'm sad to say the bridge continues to be forgotten.

Here are drawings from @NoMaBID of a proposed new east entrance from the NoMa Metro Station. The project is in the city's capital budget for opening in 2028.
The federal government says that at the request of DC MPD, Dupont Circle will be closed during Pride Weekend.
Surely MPD's beef with unauthorized celebration can be addressed by something short of closure?
It'd be like NYC cordoning off Stonewall or SF blocking off the Castro.
