How much longer!?!?!

I had to come to Corner Bakery for the sole purpose of using their free wifi, so I figured I would say a quick "hello" to my bloggy buddies. I pray to God Comcast gets this problem fixed this afternoon! Ok, I'd better get back to what brought me here...

I only have a second...

...cuz I'm technically stealing this internet connection. MY internet has been down since friggin' SATURDAY!! #$%@*@ Comcast!!!! I'm losing my shit here cuz I have no idea what's been going on with my bloggy buddies!! AND, I'm completely blowing NaBloPoMo for October! :( I actually have a couple of posts written and waiting to be published. Poop. Comcast is supposed to be coming tomorrow (yeah, I said TOMORROW!!) to fix the problem, so I guess you'll just have to miss me until then. Well, unless I decide to just pack up the laptop and go sit at a Starbucks or something tonight. Miss you!

Day 6

Monday, December 6, 2010
Which of your senses means the most to you?

Wow, this one is going to require some real thought....

It's no secret that this little penguin LOVES to eat (as evidenced by the enormity of my rear end!) so I don't know what I'd do without my sense of taste. Oh, wait, yes I do....drop a ton or two, probably!

I have some favorite smells that I can't imagine living without: babies (!), anything baking in my oven, garlic, basil, onions (preferably all in one pot on my stove!), wet autumn leaves, the way it smells outside after a refreshing rains, Bath & Body Works Cool Citrus Basil (my signature scent!), I could go on and on... However, with no sense of smell, I would never miss the smell of garbage, public bathrooms, and B.O.!

I would find it nearly impossible to live without music, so I really need my hearing. Plus, without my hearing, I'd miss out on the joyous sound of children laughing, which truly makes my heart smile. Mostly, I would never want to have to live without ever hearing my baby say, "I love you, Mom."

I don't even want to think about never seeing my beautiful son's face again, not to mention the other people I love. I couldn't imagine never being able to see a beautiful sunset again. You know how much I love them based on the fact that I like to take pictures of them and post them here, even though they're just the crummy, little "city" sunsets. I wish I could share some of the sunsets I captured while in Italy. Some of you know, my parents' villa is right on the ocean, which makes for absolutely stunning sunsets. Unfortunately, I didn't own a digital camera yet when I was last there. :(

Finally, without my sense of touch, I'd never feel the warmth of a hug from a loved one.

Wow, I don't think I can answer this. I will say that my "top two" would be sight and hearing. Jeez, if I had a gun to my head and I HAD to pick one over the other, I would have to say....sheesh! I just don't know!!!!

I have pretty crappy eyesight already. My eye doctor told me over 20 years ago that without my glasses/contacts, I'm legally blind in my left eye. I'm probably legally blind in both now!

I REALLY love my music. Unless I'm watching TV, I have music on. Always. And, many of the shows I watch have music (glee, DWTS, etc.)

OK, I'm going to totally blow it today, and not answer this prompt properly. I have to say it's a tie between vision and hearing. Sorry. That's my final answer.

Let me make it up to you by putting a little 'something extra' in today's post! ;-)

This is from one of my favorite blogs, Not Always Right. For some reason, it just cracked me up!

An Open And Shut Case

Tech Support | Los Angeles, CA, USA

Me: “Hello, [Tech Support]. How can I help you?”

Caller: “I just got your wireless internet thingy, but I’m not sure I like it.”

Me: “What’s wrong with it?”

Caller: “Oh, nothing’s wrong with it. It’s much faster than my old internet; but do I always have to open my windows? I hate opening up the windows.”

Me: “What computer do you have?”

Caller: “I have a Mac.”

Me: “Then how do you–”

Caller: “Oh! No. Not that computer windows thing! I don’t have that! I mean my actual windows around my house!”

Me: “You’re… opening up you’re windows around your house?”

Caller: “Yes! And it’s really chilly today!”

Me: “Ma’am, I hate to interrupt, but why is this relevant to your internet problem?”

Caller: “Well, it’s wireless! It comes through the air, right? How else am I going to get it if the windows are closed?”

Maybe it was so funny to me because I spent so much damn time on the phone with Comcast this weekend!! THIS is why I'm not rude to the tech support people. I could never do their job!

I'm going to completely switch gears here and ask that all my Bloggy Buddies who pray PLEASE say some prayers for my friend, Tiffany, and her family. Go here for the update.

While I've been sitting here working on this post, I've had a new NBC show on, called The Sing Off. (See, another show with music!!) I've been typing during the commercial breaks, but now I think I'm going to give it my full attention. It's TOTALLY getting me pumped for this weekend's date with my Bestest Friend. More on that later.

Little did I know...

...I actually DID get my 'official' post done today, as there are no prompts on the weekends. Who knew!

Just to give you a little update, the Comcast technician arrived at around 10:30, and by 11, I was up and running. My modem was bad, and so he replaced it. Unfortunately for me, the modem I had was mine (as opposed to Comcast's) and I got it when I bought my first laptop and Stud's desktop. It was a bundled deal from Circuit City at the time. Because there wasn't a problem with 'their' equipment, I'll have to pay a $49.99 service fee for having the tech come out to my house. Also, now that I have a Comcast modem, I have to pay a $5 a month fee to rent their modem. What a crock o' shit! I can go buy a brand new modem for about $50, instead of paying Comcast an extra $60 a year for theirs. I made sure that if I did decide to buy my own modem, I wouldn't be stuck paying the rental fee all year. I was assured that I only had to pay it for the months I used it. But, I will have to return it to a Comcast store myself, or pay AGAIN to have someone come out and pick it up. BS, I tell ya! The only upside I can see it that if anything goes wrong with their modem, they will replace it for free. I'm going to have to give this some thought.
